W 7 First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps: Click "Start" button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the "Search" bar and press "Enter". Click "Continue" if necessary. In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK". Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically. for XP or earlier click start right click on computer select properties device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X you will need to update/reinstall drivers right click to reinstall drivers if you can see your usb drive but its not working ports (com&lpt) right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem Check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems to a computer and its parts if you need more help with this or if i have missed the problem post a reply Hope it helps.

click start click to open on my computer you should see your Usb drive E: right click select properties there will be an array of options select the sharing tab option then advanced sharing make sure you have a tick in the share this folder box then click permissions make sure all 3 boxes are ticked full control change and read in windows 7

How to put files on the USB kingston?

I use them all the time, you can do copy and paste or cut and paste.Just right click with your mouse on what you want to copy/cut click on either one take it over then go to your media right click again and select paste and it then will be on your media ready to use.

If you are talking about the SD card, there's a tiny switch on the sideopposite the angled corner.
It must be slid towards the electrical contacts edge of the adapter. The other position is write protected.

I JUST BROUGHT A NEW PEN DRIVE. FIRST TIME USING

Write Protection on any portable USB Device can be applied by the physical lock provided on the card adjuster or some times provided on the pen drives, so make sure to make your drive not write protected by moving the lock in right direction.

But even after moving the physical lock for write protection the problem can happen due to some virus action. This happens when some virus or script which applies the registry hack to make any drive write protect when connected to the computer, In that case follow the procedure below to remove write protection from your pen drive.

1. Open Start Menu >> Run, type regedit and press Enter, this will open the registry editor.

2. Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Note: If the registry key StorageDevicePolicies key does not exist, you will need to create it

Download this batch file called add.bat from here, and double click after download the key will be automatically added to registry.

3. Double click the key WriteProtect in the right pane and set the value to 0 in the Value Data Box and press OK button

4. Exit Registry, restart your computer and then again re-connect your USB pen drive on your computer. That is it, done.

A virus may have got to it :/ its hapened to me before. What you can do is reformat it. Right click on My Computer and see if the device is noticed in Disk Management under Storage. If so you can right click on it and hit format :) hope this helps. If you cant see it try it on another computer :)

My pen drive is not detected.

The best thing to do is to try it in a friends computer, remember to scan it with an anti-virus program if it is detected. Otherwise it is possible that the USB flash drive has malfunctioned or needs to be reformatted. Hand it over to a PC technician maybe he/she can recover the information on it. Might be time to purchase a new one as they do wear out.
