It is usually easiest to run the install wizard, but be sure to be ready to set the items listed below.

Things to set:

Note: Routers are intended to be set by geeks. You have to SAVE EVERY page, or the changes will be lost. A geek knows this (apparently). The router gives no protest...just dumps your changes.

1. Login password (RECORD THIS!!). Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

2. Set a recognizable system ID.

3. Invoke wireless security of at least WEP.

I cannot change the SSID

I would reset the router, as long as you do not have any complicated parameters set (static routes, port forwards, etc).

Hold the reset button on the back down for 30 seconds, continue to hold down while you unplug the unit, hold for another 30, plug back in and hold for another 30 seconds.

Restart the setup and see if you get anywhere.

Whenever i try to play

Type 192.168.2.1 in your internet browser, and mess around with the settings. like the firewall on the ps3. You can find the ps3 IP under system information. The router more then likely named your ps3 by its ip. then look up a video on how to port forward your ps3 with your router.

TRYING TO FIND MY WPA2

If you don't remember it, you get to generate a new one. They're hidden. IIRC they are case sensitive and can be from 8-42 or so characters. Next time, write it down, because that's the only way you can duplicate it.

Logging into the router and selecting the wireless security tab gets you there.

I can't access the router

I can't either :-)

However, my router is accessed by typing just 192.168.1.1 (my gaveway address) directly onto the URL bar.

If your computer is working on the internet and you are in the same network as your router, try it.

use the reset button on the back to regain access again connect again using Here are the recommended steps to connect to a wireless base router 1. Check and remove power from both your router and the DSL ROUTER/CABLE ROUTER MODEM 2. Wait one complete minute until applying power to modem then wait one minute before applying power to wireless router. 3. Ensure you have green lights across both devices, specifically, the recieved and sent lights. These same lights will tend to blink rapidly when there is active data, at times this will still blink, and a DNS error will prevent you from connecting to the internet. If this is the case, call your ISP Internet service provider 4. Check your authentication Security key on your router first, then check all your wireless devices to ensure they are on the same network name, key, and channel with the same type of encryption as the router 5. Start one device at a time and check for connectivity, if your still experiencing a problem, check the settings on all your wireless adapters, device drivers, internet browser settings, firewalls and proceed. 6. still have problems, connect a rj45 cable from the router directly to your computer to at least see if your wireless settings are bad or if the router may be bad. 7. Contact your ISP to determine if your receiving singal 8. Avoid using a splitter or parital power backup for yours routers 9. Still having problems, change your wireless router only after your ISP changes their faulty modem 10.Attempt the same process when setting up your new wireless router and or modem

I can't get WPA-access, but

The device you are trying to connect with ie the client. doesn't support WPA. Not all devices eg. Gameboys support the more advanced WPA standard. The trouble is you will have to downgrade your entire network to WEP just to accommodate the device that isn';t connecting... I wouldn't do it.. or do it just once to get an update or something like that. I'd leave the network the way it is...

I accidently put in the wrong isp and password

You will probably need to return the router back to factory defaults in order to run the setup program again on it.

To return the router to factory defaults, press and hold the RESET button on the back on the router for approximately 20 seconds. Once you've done this, unplug the power cable from the modem (not the router) for about 15 minutes. While the modem is off, go back through the setup for the router again.

After you've completed the configuration of the router and waited the 15 minutes for the modem to clear its NVRAM, plug-in the power cord of the modem and let it sync to the network.

If all has gone well, you should then have a working router.

HI,

I got your issue, you must make sure the firmware is upto date in your router since in the surf wireless router we have the issue only because of firmware.

Click here to download the firmware.

Update it in the router using a wired computer, if you do it in a wireless comp, connection will be disconnected.

I'm sure this will work.

Good Luck!

Thanks in Advance!

Prema.

Hi,

Please see on the adapter of the router if the range of voltage is from 110 to 220. If it is then it is called auto-volt. The adapter can adapt whether 220 or 110. You can directly connect it to any socket.

If it is not auto-volt then you must use a step down transformer to use it.

Thanks.
