did you try to go to the menu and shut it off?

the cable fitting was attached to the tuner, any tv shop can repair the tuner and put a new fitting on. I usually handle this type of repair for 45 to 55 dollars.

that sound is the horizontal oscillator trying to start. something has shorted out the horizontal output transistor. this problem is fairly easy to troubleshoot and easily repaired by any reputable tv shop.

If you have S-Video port on your TV, surely there is a configuration setting that allows you to do it.
Look for a Key that says A/V or AV for audio video. It allows you to select the input to the TV, namely S-Video, YPBPR, AV, or what have you?

Once you select S-Video, you must connect the TV to the S-Video port on your computer. Then you divert the screen output to the TV (or extend your desktop to the TV)

Actually I just repaired one of these "similar" units. If you remove the backing of the tv, unpluged of course, Theres a panel facing you if you are looking at the right side of the TV. This panel pops off easily with a light prying motion all around. You'll see where the connector broke off and can solder it back together with a small pin type tip. Solder the center pin to the center probe first,hold in place with needle nose pliers. 2 people are better than one at this. Then lay down agood bead of solder around the perimeter of the connector. Clean up any solder that may have dropped and put it back together, you'll be ready to go in about one hours time. Let me know how it goes!!!

On the remote, is there a setup, install or menu button? sometimes its the red, green, yellow, and blue buttons on old tv's that are the tv's system settings, if that does not work can you tell me what the make of the tv is, there should be a number or make on the front of it.

That's because you can't replace it alone. All three colour guns are built into the 42" tube assembly.

According to the specs on that model, it does not have a digital tuner capable of receiving ATSC signals. You need a converter to receive the digital signal and convert it to analog so that set can process it. Unless you already have a 'black box' between your signal source and the Orion, you have never received 'digital' signals.

Even when you get the box most of the time you need to buy an antenna at your local radio shack or electronics store the good ones are like $30.00 or more so it can get spendy doing this.

Your TV does not have a digital tuner. You'll need a converter box for digital broadcast reception. Remember that if you're on a cable system or using a satellite receiver, your TV doesn't need to have digital tuning. It's only if you want to watch off-the-air broadcasts that you'll need the converter.

Look in the owners manual as sometimes they give you a backdoor way into resetting or changing the password. then you can go in an turn it off.
