My son enter a password that he just can't

With windows 7 the password recovery is pretty complex (unless you created a backup of your password on a flash drive, etc.).
I have a bootable program that can reset the password on win 7, but it's a .iso file that I downloaded. I am not aware of a way to do this remotely...it would be my guess that unless you did a password recovery in Win 7 that you will need to find someone in your area to take a look at it. It's pretty straightforward with the software.
If you happen to be in MO let me know.

My Lenovo brand new laptop's intergerated camera

Hi nselva,

There are several reasons why the integrated camera in your laptop is not working. Let me give you the most common reasons why and the necessary troubleshooting to fix the issue. You may want to try the steps below:

1. Webcam is disabled - To enable, press Fn + Esc. A camera icon will appear at the bottom right side of your screen. You might see another icon which is a camera with a slash at the middle this means camera has been disabled.

2. Webcam Software - Kindly check if you have the software for webcam installed in your PC. Software is YOU CAM. It might need to be reinstalled on the system. You may get the You Cam software from this link. Just look for Software and then choose You Cam which is compatible to your OS. Download it to your PC and install it.

3. Webcam Driver - Check if you have webcam driver in Device Manager. If there's none you can get the driver on the same link where the You Cam is. All you have to look for is Camera. Select the driver that's compatible to your OS. If there's already an existing camera driver it's also advisable to uninstall it and install the driver that you can get from the website.

If still camera will not work after doing the steps above you will need to contact Lenovo since this is already a hardware issue. Camera needs replacement.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

To check and alter your hard drive partitions I suggest you use Easus Partition Manager - it's freeware and can be downloaded here:

http://download.cnet.com/EASEUS-Partition-Master-Home-Edition/3000-2248_4-10863346.html

I'm not sure what you are trying to do with the second question. Are you suggesting formatting the disk again and re-installing XP?

If you want to boot from CD and run diagnotics then you can download Ultimate Boot CD from here and burn it to a disc that will then be bootable.

thttp://www.ubcd4win.com

This is also freeware.

How to start a camera

Welcome to Fixya

You can start using the camera by using the preloaded software from Lenove. The softwares are Easy capture or Easycam. You may use the camera also when chatting with your friends so that they will see you while you were chatting. You need to download messaging software like yahoo messenger or skype. The other party should be using that software too. You can test your cam by going to this site.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

I am operating window xp on my laptop... because

Hi,

I believe you downgraded the Operating System from Windows 7. If that so, Lenovo Warranty support will no longer support the Operating System that you install on that computer. There will be a possibility also that the Operating System that you install will not be compatible with the machine itself. This is the exact link where you can dowload the drivers for you machine not only for the graphic and sound driver but all the drivers designated for the machine with Windows XP Operating System -

http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/ot/en/DriversDownLoads/APR_Driver_List.aspx?CategoryID=67873&OS=Windows%20XP

1. Download the video driver.

2. Restart the laptop.

3. Download the sound driver.

4. Restart the laptop.

You will need to restart the laptop for each and every driver that you will install for the changes to take effect

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa...

Battery maximum usertime&excessive heat

Most newer lap top computers generate a lot of heat. The designers of the machine walk a narrow line between efficiency and customer satisfaction. The heat comes from the processor and the power supply of the screen. Designers incorporate a standard called heat pipe design into cooling the CPU along with a small fan sometimes. The heat pipe design is a static (no electricity used) means of wicking away the heat from the processor. When the temperature goes higher than the heat pipe can act, a small fan cuts in to reduce the temperature, but at a cost of using electricity from your batteries. The heat of the lap tops have caused people to seek medical help for excessive reddened legs, thus generating a medical syndrome called "Lap top Syndrome"

The batteries are LI-ion (Lithium Ion) construction and have to be re-charged with extreme care as excessive heat generated by charging can case the lithium to burn and cause a fire. Battery designers have placed a small smart chip in the battery pack to monitor the voltage levels and this chip will shut the battery down if too much heat is detected. Since the batteries are of Li-ion design, they start
