Yes there is a reset. After you have opened the phone and let it dry a few days, put in the battery and hold the power and volume down button for about 6-10 seconds. This will then start the boot sequence.
If you can access the files via your USB on your PC, drag and drop the file to your brouser. Or you can use Starsuit and open them as Unicode... Hope this helps. The other thing is save the files in the first place (if you have the option) as txt files.

It seems all your applications are stored in the Phone Memory and/or your application data is taking up lot of memory. Consider performing the following steps:
Go to Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications. In this Menu you'll be shown a list of applications. Use the Menu Button to "Sort by Size" and get a list of the applications sorted from high memory usage to low (phone memory). Once this is done, you'll be able to view the memory being used by each of the applications. Click on the applications which you see are consuming more memory and then use the "Clear Data" button to clean up the data being stored by the applications to free up memory. This clears up any cache, cookie, temp files associated with the applications. Depending on your android version, you may also see an additional button "Move to SD Card". The best option to get more space would be to use this button and move the application to the 4 GB SD Card storage.
Optional Step if you do not have "Move to Phone/SD Card" option available - From the Android Market, download and install "App 2 SD Free". Once done, this application should help you free up a lot of space by moving applications from your phone memory to the SD card.
Hope this was helpful. If so, please consider rating this solution.
if its straight out the box, you should charge the new handset at least for a 12 hr period, (overnight) & your handset will do one of two things, stay turned on & display full battery strength,or remain off but display battery full on the screen, the longer you keep on charge (max 24hr) the longer the life of your battery.
The HTC Desire has 8 Gigabytes of internal memory, but due to the preloaded Android OS and software only 4.5 Gigabytes are available for use. It does not take long to chew up 4.5 GB if you have a lot of music, videos, pictures, and apps. This phone does have a microSD slot though, so you can expand the memory with up to a 64 Gigabyte microSD card. So, below is how you find out if you have a microSD card available:
1. Go into Settings on your phone, and select Storage. This will generally show available storage devices on your phone, including any installed microSD cards. *CAUTION* Your storage devices can be formatted from here - so be careful Not to Format Any Devices as that will wipe all data from the device. If this is not readily visible, move on to option 2.
2. If you are uncertain as to if you have a microSD card installed view the youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJDqdBFtE6U
Open the cover on your phone as detailed in the video and see if there is a card installed where indicated. The card's capacity should be clearly marked on the card.
I hope this helps :)
If the cell phone battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.
