How old is the DVD player? I have a Yamaha 5-disk player and the rubber drive belt that wraps around the drawer motor and connected to the pulley for the drawer was stretched out and useless. Just bought a new one online and voila!

The first thing laser does is focus and if it never gets focus it will not spin up the disk. If the lens is dirty it will not spin. A cleaning disk with little brushes on the bottom, never spins up, hence never cleans. Please follow the following steps below to clean the laser.

1. Unplug the unit from the power outlet.

2. Remove screw from the cover.

3. Get isopropyl alcohol 80-90% pure from say Walgreen's. Original regular blue Windex works great also. With Q tip clean laser 1/4 inch diameter glass lens in circular motion and dry with other end.

4. This cleans dust off laser and works better than any cleaning disk.

If cleaning laser lens does not fix the problem, there is an internal problem with the player, laser needs replacement.

The spindle motor is probably bad.

Any decent repair shop should have a large supply of replacement belts. The Part number isn't necessary. Just take the old one in and get a new one just 2mm smaller than the original. Some repair shops won;t sell them because they don't want you repairing your own property but a decent shop should sell you one.

It's the belt inside the machine - open tray and look in front left side and you will see it. Easy to change out with new one.

Yes if it has a suitable speaker connection available and is nominally 8 ohms impedance Speaker and AV.

Being from 1985 or there abouts, it probably needs some TLC at a Yamaha service centre. May need new capacitors and resolder dry joints for age related issues.

WD-40 ... Very dangerous as it not only flammable when wet but is bad for electrical contacts as it leaves a residue behind that does not conduct electricity very well. Check speaker connections first.

(francais) hello in my issue the probleme was a little resistor r027 it's in this red zone and very ugly. easy to find. a friend was unsolded the resistor and weld a little wire after wash with isopropanole alcool. the resistor test the tension when we plug usb thing. less the resistor the usb ports don't work. you can buy r027 for 2 euros for 100 pieces.... or 2 euros for 5 10 pieces (funny).

You must repair the amplifier first. Take it to an authorised Yamaha service centre.

You can't do this. The SpeakerCraft is a standalone amplifier. The Yamaha is a Receiver and has its own amplifier. Thanks for the compliments Gilbert. You have tried the reset so a Yamaha audio tech is the answer. This link will find you one close to where you live. There is probably a glass fuse on the power board, but you have to find out WHY the fuse blew?
