Porter Cable C2002 150 Psi 6 Gal Compressor - Page 7 Questions & Answers
The regulator knob is broke.
You can't buy the regulator knob as a seperate part, you have to buy the entire manifold; Porter Cable part number N003001. Shop around on parts sites as these cost around $70 plus any shipping and handling. Depending on how often you have to change the regulated pressure output it may not be worth replacing.
The compressor has air in the tank but the needle
you would have to go to the store where you bought it from and buy a new pressure regulator. i've had this happen on a similar compressor. valve inside pressure regulator goes bad from moisture in tank if its not drained daily after each use and starts to corrode. if i can help any other way let me know and good luck
Will not build pressure past
You have either damaged reed valves or piston ring. Both of which are common problems with this type of compressor. To diagnose: Remove the motor cover, then the four screws holding the cylinder head on. The valve plate is under the head and all eight reeds, five intake and three output, must be in very good condition to work properly. You'll need the valve plate, part number N017592, and head gasket, part number Z-D24819, if there are any damaged reed valves. If they're OK, check the piston ring. Remove the screw holding the piston on the flywheel and pull the con-rod out of the cylinder. The ring around the piston must be in perfect condition to build pressure. The connecting rod kit, part number KK-4964, is the only way to get the piston seal ring.
I just purhcased this air compressor and cannot
This a new machine correct. Did you let it run with the valve open for the 15 minitues this seals and lubes the pistion Ihave the same machine and i know how noise it is aswmeing the pump is pumping there are 3 other paces it could be leaking. The blow out valve the regulator or the inlet hose if the drain is closed. You are going to have to run your hands around the the regulator area and the hose something must be leaking and you won't be able to hear it. It dose have a one year warranty mabey you just got one with a ploblem mine work find i've had it for almost two years with no complantes good luck
The compressor runs but doesn't build up pressure,
If your relief valve is working properly the next two usual failures on this compressor are the piston seal or the valve plate. Remove the cylinder head and check the valve plate. If even one of the reed valves is chipped, bent or otherwise compromised, the compressor won't build pressure. The replacement part for the valve plate is part number NO17592 and should be available at or can be ordered at most Dewalt/Porter Cable repair centers. Next check the seal on top of the piston. If it's compromised, same effect. Unfortunately you can't buy just the seal, you have to buy the connecting rod kit, part number KK-4964.
I am thinking of getting a compressor for my
Eighter one of these will work good for nail guns personaly i have the porter cable and i like it i do a lot of construction work. And i think the porter cable comes a finish nail gun for small nails and staples mind did. But there not for running tools that require a large volume of air like air sanders air rachats or air cutters.
I have a C2150 4 gal compressor from Porter cable
Try to use a higher amperage extension cord.
This unit is rated for 15 amps. It should be able to run on a 20 amp circuit unless there is voltage drop due to small wiring. Try an air conditioner extension and let us know the result.

Air compressor only builds to 40psi, motor stops
Sound like the valves are going out of the compressor, Have you put a jumper wire to bypass the pressure control to see if it will still pump. Don't use a light jumper wire because you could burn it up. I would put a amp meter on the jumper wire to check the amp draw and check it with the factory rating.
Bleeder valve is leaking.

Hi, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. If your switch is set at auto, and your cut in pressure is say 90psi and cut off is say 125psi, and your compressor does not come on due to no current, then the switch is bad. Look on the switch, it will have the information. Thanks for choosing FixYa...John
Rubber hose from pump to tank keeps bursting is
Hi, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. The line that runs to that needs to be steel or copper or brass, as long as the line is rated for as much as the psi rating of the compressor. Thanks for choosing FixYa..John
