I have recently come onto an air compressor that

This is a fairly trouble free unit. Most of the compressors in for repair in that model range are suffering from low pressure due to worn piston ring. Some however have had broken wire at pressure switch, on/off switch and brushes pulled away from the commutator or burned brush wire. All easy repair and parts are available from several locations or use universal parts. Good luck

I need to know how to wire a hookup for an air

If you are installing a 3 prong plug you would only have 3 wires, none are color coded. The middle is your ground/neutral wire and the outer 2 are both hot so, as long as you put the middle wire onto the middle stud, the other 2 hot wires can go on either hot stud left or right they are both the same. If you are running a new circuit from the breaker box then you will need a 2- pole 240 volt breaker and what every amperage is listed for MAX breaker size on the compressor. Should be able to run # 10ga wire that is good for 30amps. The 2 hot wires would connect to the breaker and the middle wire would hook to ground in the breaker box.... You can use black or red wires for the hots and I would use green wire for the ground. Or you can run 10/3 romex wire to the outlet from the breaker box if you don't use conduit.......If you use romex the white wire will be ground/neutral and the other two the power wires it doesn't matter which goes where .....

As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed.

Where can I get a manual?

I don't know where you live so I can't tell you expressily where to go, but try this. Call your local hardware store, or other type store (big box, like Lowes, Home Depot and ask them if they sell the Porter Cable brand of compressor. Also you might try the internet to locate a dealer near you and/or contact one of them by email or phone and ask them for the manual.

Porter cable 135 psi 6 Gal model no. d27420

These units are disposable so if the motor is gone, it is garbage. I would try a power tool repair center to see if they have any used motors to repair your unit. Save the tank and use it as a slave unit for a new compressor. This way you will have more volume and the compressor will run less overall making the new unit last longer. If you burnt the motor out on this one, consider buying a larger unit the next time. Hope this helps.

How do i adjust the pressure relief valve so it

There is no adjustment on the relief valve. They are preset at the factory. You might have a problem with the pressure shut off being set too high on the upper limit causing the pop off to activate before the motor shuts off.

I don't know what that

The knob adjusts the outlet air pressure. One gauge shows tank pressure and the other is your outlet pressure. The pressure is changed by turning the knob (generally counter-clockwise to reduce pressure) Pressure requirements differ depending on the tools you are running. Most air tools will list a Maximum Operating Pressure on them or in the manual.

USING IT FOR JUST THE SECOND TIME,THE TANK WOULD

The break in instructions have to do with slowly letting the ring wear in before putting it to a lot of pressure, but should make little difference.
You need to either take it back for warranty, or find and fix the leak yourself.
Listen for it with a length of tubing, or spray with soapy water way from any electrical parts.
Could be the relief valve even, or loose tubing connection.
There is also an antiback up valve that can let air leak back out the intake if it is bad.

How long should it take for the air compresser to

It is a variable and depends on the compressor head, atmospheric pressure and temperature etc., but you are looking at a few minutes because your receiver is not very large although the pressure is quite high at 150 psi. When the compressor cuts out you are ready to start drawing air from it. (Ensure that the unit has lubrication if required).

No air on tools side

Hi, Between the two gauges is the regulator adjusting knob. Turn this until you see the pressure rise on the tool side gauge. You can also test for a rise in pressure in the air hose by connecting a blow gun, and pressing the trigger as you make adjustments. If you cannot raise the pressure with the regulator, it is probably bad.

The drain petcock on the bottom broke off. Can it

That depends. If the break was in the steel (or weld if this is the type that has a little threaded flange welded on), then the break was likely due to rust. If that is the case, the answer is no, since the integrity of the tank has been compromised. Someone with a welder could actually fix it, but it would not be safe. However, if the threaded hole in the tank is OK, then the valve can be removed (probably with a screw extractor) and can be safely replaced. I hope this was helpful. Good luck.

The tank pressure is 150 Psi but the regulated

150 lbs is the amount of pressure in the tank. When you connect a nail gun for instance you cannot nail everything at 150 lbs of pressure, it will blast through. The regulated pressure is at zero because you have the ability to regulate it by turn the know under or beside it to increase the output pressure to your desired amount. I was building a shelf last week and set my regulated to 80lbs with a brad and it blew through the panel and stuck in the floor. After you get to know your nail gun you will be able to regulate it between 60 and 80 depending on the type of wood. Panel - 50 lbs, Oak, 90 lbs, etc. Pleas remember to rate this solution high if it was helpful and explained it to your satisfaction.
