You can try putting a little more tension on the drive belt. It is probably stretched out a bit and the drive engagement cant cancel all the slack out. So, the belt slips.

Pull out your owners manual and look up instructions for tightening the drive belt. If you dont have a manual go to the Husqvarna website and get a PDF copy.

you have a fuel problem. fuel tank fuel line collapsing or carburetor needs new needle and seat

if it wont rewind you have to remove the recoil that retracts the rope replace it or repair it

It may not have a fuel filter. Many push mowers use a screen in the tank to filter the gas. It sounds more like your carburetor has old gas that gelled and now cant get gas through. You will have to take the bowl off the carburetor and clean it out, and blow air up thru the jet which is inside the center port where the bolt that holds the bowl goes into.

Look for 2 plates on top of carb. Rear plate, rear hole should be spring attachment.

folks call a "bendix" what manufacturers often call a starter drive. the "bendix spring" makes it release when you release the key. the gear teeth on a starter drive throw out in mesh with the flywheel ring gear teeth to crank it. hope this answers you or leave further description of what its doing or not doing

most lawnmowers have oil in the crankcase and you don't put oil in the gas. but if you have a 2 stroke engine you will need 2 ounces for every gallon.

Carbs all have some minimal derbis in the float bowl. When an engine runs out of gas the float bowl cavitates and the debris that was just fine in the bottom of the float bowl is drawn into the main fuel jet located in the threaded area of the bowl nut. Remove the float bowl nut and bowl. Use carb cleaner to remove the debris from the main fuel jet orifice in the threaded area of the carb body.
(If the carb cleaner does not free the debris from the main fuel jet is can be unscrewed and removed for cleaning. Just make sure the screwdriver is a good fit to the brass slots of the orifice or you will never get it out.)
Make sure to clean out the float bowl and nut before re-assembly. This should get you going pretty quickly.

have you had the battery out ? if so did you refit the battery back in , with the proper connections to battery - reversed connections at battery makes starter spin but starter clutch wont engage - have seen this on b/s 16 hp vee twin

if this is ok check the starter clutch / helix and gear they may be faulty or stuck
