You CAN drive the power amps from the main amp inout jacks BUT the rest of the inout of the 8600 would be dead then. You can connect the L and R from the FX24 to either the media RCA jacks or into the channel9/10 jacks. FOr the latter, use TRS cables. Leave the two selection buttons in the up position.

Check the caps in the PSU, these give out over time although not normally when used regularly. You may be lucky and be able to see one or more with bulging tops. If you can replace them and all MAY be OK. Whilst in there check for any visible signs of anything burnt or blown. If it looks too bad or there is nothing obvious it's a trip to the repair shop for certain.

Check proper impedance speakers, as this amplifier's minimum impedance should be 4 Ohm, check for the proper fan operation and free air flow thru the entire power amplifier section, hope this helps.
Can you run a powered mixer without a speaker load

DO NOT parallel more than two 8 ohm speakers on either output and you will be OK. You could also use one speaker on each output. That would be easier on the equipment as it would be an 8 ohm load on each instead of a 4 ohm load on one of the internal amps. If you want to drive stage minitors, then you existing setup is fine and you will connect the monitors to the second speaker output and set the Mon switch as MAIN/MON.

You would need to purchase a replacement fan (you can't repair broken ones). Most peavey mixers disassemble by removing the 2 screws that secure the top handle and then the six xcrews along the top and bottom of the back.

The speaker connections are on the BACK and are "Speakon" connectors... These are special plugs and these apparently can also accept 1/4 inch plugs. It appears that the MINIMUM impedance should be no less than 4 ohms, NOT 2 ohms. One of the back connectors is for the mains, the other ois for the monitor soeakers. The FRONT connections are line level which doi NOT drive speakers,
