Are you using the original factory power supply? That sounds like it isn't strong enough. The mA is what I mean.

Often the cause is a jammed CD or aa little belt that drives the carriage has failed or is slipping.

You need the OPEN the case to retrieve the CD if one is in there and check the mechanism does not have a problem. Some drives used to have a SMALL hole near the door that one would insert a straightened paper clip into straight to press a release... You might check for that.

/it's most likely a defective fader, but before replacing it, get a can of Deoxit5 or fader cleaner and spray inside the fader, then move it the full length os travel about 20 times to see it that clears it up.

Most turntables require a new drive belt. The cartridge sometimes needs replacing. Cahngers require much more maintenance. Hardly anybody does this anymore... but if belt has deteriorated, that is DIY as you can find suppliers of the belt online.

The most likely case is that one of the main output transistors (if which there are many) is shorted. When the protect circuit senses DC on the final output, it will not allow the output relay to come on to protect the speakers from raw DC. With the power removed, you can check between each outputs Emitter and Collector and you will probably find close to zero ohms. From that point you need to unsolder each of the pins of the bad channel until you find the shorted device(s) and replace them.

Depending on the model, there are four around that date, it could be the insert jacks are tarnished reducing the signal flow between the pre amp stage and digital power amplifier. It could be the power amplifier has failed. It could even be customer error in wiring. This assumes there is the correct level of signal entering the input sockets of course.
