Generac Power Systems Generac 0057890 3250 Watt Gasoline Generator - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Generator is dragging when load is applied
if it drages less or not at all during night that means air fuel mix screw on the carb needs to adjust for proper intake of oxygen in the cumbustion chamber but you have to set it two times on load and no load condition till the engine runs smooth another reason is when the engine is dragging and there is smoke in the exoust that means engine oil is going up in the cylinder head which results in dragging and loss of power for that matter piston rings has to be changed but firstly check the first one
I have a 3250 watt Kingcraft generator that won't
Always troubleshoot with new sparkplug. Remove the oil sending unit connection from the coil. The coil should work without any wires connected. Usually the only connections are oil sending unit that will short to ground when low oil condition and other wire must be kill wire to on/off switch. Use carb cleaner spray directly into the carb with air filter removed and choke off as fuel supply. Just a short spray and another short spray after a couple of pulls. If engine wants to start you will need to keep spraying cleaner for engine to continue to run. If engine wants to run, replace fuel with couple gallons of premium fuel to get it going. Hotter fuel will help if the compression is low. Good luck

How to start a gas generator (should the choke be
Most Generac generators have a lever for the choke that pulls out. So if the generator is being started for the first use or cold you should choke when starting . Let it run for 30-45 sec. then push it in . Once the engine has been run or warm you dont need to choke every time when starting .

Generac 5793 Ix 2000 surging
It sounds as though there is an issue with the carburetor. If the unit is "surging" with no load I would recommend thoroughly cleaning the carb. It would also be a good idea to test the fuel pump. Per Generac you need to disconnect the fuel line leading to the carb and pull the starter rope over to see if adequate fuel is flowing. If none of this is the issue try testing the stepper motor on top of the carb. If you unclip the wire and use an OHM meter all wires should test at 150 ohms. to test place on test lead on the blue wire and move the other lead to the remaining four wires. The should all ohm out to roughly 150ohms. if this is not the case you need to replace the stepper motor.... Before you do any of this you should check for fresh fuel, a good spark plug, and proper compression.
MODEL 60511 BETTERY GOES DEAD
Check the charging voltage, while running should be 14.5VDC or higher but not more than 15.5VDC. If charging circuit is bad, you can use a trickle charger or repair the engines charging coils and regulator.
Can i use this tester to check for any live wires. im installed a new light fixture on my porch from existing wiring but lights not tuning on
However, I can provide guidance on using a basic voltage tester to check for live wires when troubleshooting a light fixture installation.
Using a Voltage Tester:
Non-Contact Voltage Tester:
If you have a non-contact voltage tester, it's a handy tool for quickly identifying live wires without direct contact. Hold the tester close to the wire insulation or the terminal screws, and it should indicate the presence of voltage without making physical contact.
Contact Voltage Tester:
If you have a contact voltage tester, make sure it's designed for the voltage level you're working with (e.g., 120V for residential electrical systems).
Turn off the strength to the circuit on the circuit breaker or fuse box.
Safety First:
Always prioritize safety. Make sure the power is turned off before working on any electrical components.
Test the Tester:
Test the voltage tester on a known live circuit to ensure it's functioning properly.
Check the Wiring:
Once confirmed, turn off the power to the circuit you are working on.
Use the voltage tester to check each wire connected to the light fixture. Verify that there is voltage on the wires.
Neutral and Hot Wires:
Typically, a light fixture will have a hot wire (usually black) and a neutral wire (usually white). Make positive each wires are linked properly.
Ground Wire:
Check for a ground wire and ensure it's properly connected. Some light fixtures may have a green or bare copper wire for grounding.
Switch Position:
Ensure that the wall switch controlling the light fixture is in the ON position.
Bulb Check:
Confirm that the light bulbs in the fixture are working and properly installed.
Circuit Breaker Check:
Double-check the circuit breaker or fuse for the lighting circuit to make sure it hasn't tripped or blown.

I have a onan 4000 LP generator when I try to start it it starts and then goes dead?
Here are some common troubleshooting steps to help you identify and potentially resolve the problem:
- Fuel Supply:
- Check the LP (propane) fuel supply. Ensure that there is enough propane in the tank.
- Check for any obstructions or kinks in the fuel line.
- Air Intake and Exhaust:
- Make sure the air intake and exhaust are not blocked. Lack of proper ventilation can cause the generator to shut down.
- Choke Position:
- Check the position of the choke. If it's set to "Choke" for starting, make sure to gradually move it to the "Run" position once the generator has started.
- Fault Codes or Indicator Lights:
- Look for any fault codes or indicator lights on the generator control panel. These can provide clues about specific issues.
- Oil Level:
- Check the oil level in the generator. Some generators have a safety feature that shuts them down if the oil level is too low.
- Spark Plug:
- Inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage. If needed, clean or replace the spark plug.
- Fuel System Issues:
- Inspect the fuel system for any leaks or issues. LP generators may have a fuel filter that needs to be checked and, if necessary, replaced.
- Carburetor:
- The carburetor may need cleaning or adjustment. If it's clogged, it can lead to stalling issues.
- Battery Voltage:
- Ensure that the generator's battery has sufficient voltage. A weak or dead battery can affect the starting process.
- Generator Load:
- If the generator is under a heavy load, it may shut down. Try starting it without any load and then gradually add loads.
