The 50/51 and 55 always had the same bar mount, the bar was part no. 508912164 for 15" 508912172 for 18" and 508912180 for the 20", the oil is not fed through the bar adjuster hole.

remove the 2 nuts holding the sawdust strut/sidecover and remove side cover. remove chain and bar. clean the chain slot and oil holes on bar. install new chain over bar and place remainder of chain over chain sprocket.back off chain tightener until chain and bar fit. reinstall side cover.

Make sure you are using the correct fuel mix. Check fuel tank vent, prone to blocking an can effect the performanceClean air filter, check Spark plug.

You have to remove the bar and chain, then remove the clutch by getting a hard plastic plug at your nearest shop. You then screw in the plug into the spark plug hole. You turn the clutch clockwise as opposed to counterclockwise. The oiler is underneath the clutch. They have a plastic gear that tends to wear out with time. You have to replace that gear . Buy the gear and the seal . Also clean the oiler real good so that it runs fairly free. They get clogged to the point of not turning sometimes.

Just check that it is mechanically sound, remove the muffler and check the condition of the piston skirt through thre open exhaust port, any signs of scuffing or damage and the cylinder will have to come off the assess the damage,

The 455 has a 3 position adjustable oil pump, the adjuster screw is up under the crankcase, sprocket side, you need a flat blade screw driver.

I had a very similar problem with a stihl 029 farm boss.I did everything you did except I took it to a shop to do the piston and ring replacement. When I got it back the first time it would run for about two mins. then die.I fought it for a couple of weeks then took it back and expressed my displeasure. Then checked it all over and replaced piston and ring again and it runs great. They told me they could not get the right compression with the first one and thought the groove for the ring was cut to deep.I hope this is of some help to you. Thank you.

The 455 was very prone to blocking the fuel tank vent, as a test, when the saw starts to die release the fuel cap, if the saw picks back up and runs normally it is a breather issue, the breather is pressed into the crankcase under the starter cover.

Your seat safety switch is not working. If the seat switch isn't activated, ie. a person sitting on the seat, the safety system will stop the engine when the levers are engaged. There is probably only one lever safety switch, on the right lever, which is why the left one doesn't kill the engine. Check the seat switch continuity and the wiring for loose connections.

Likely there is air trapped in the system. Try raising drive wheels (safely) off the ground and operating forwards backwards. With minimal load on the hydo pump and motor, the air should purge.

The flywheel key has likely sheared. Contemporary utility 2-cycle flywheel keys are integrated into the flywheel. A new flywheel will be likely be required.
