Pressure in pump is stuck at 11psi

Change it, If it worked once upon a time, now it does not, You can't fix it. They come preset 20/40,30/50 or 40/60 the first number is the on psi the second is off. Check your old one to see which you need, it is on the inside of cap. Make sure to check the air in bladder tank while the system is down. (2 psi less than start up pressure)

How do i set the low pressure on the flotec switch

your pump should have a 20lb seperation ie. pump turns on at 20lb and off at 40lb or on at 50lb off at 70lb. under the cover of the switch theres two screws with springs under them.dont mess with the small one.the large one if you screw it down (right) will increase the pressure while maintaining the 20lb separation. one thing to keep in mind its fine to adjust the pressure BUT at the same time the air pressure in the tank needs to be adjusted to two lbs below the cut in pressure of the pump.

I believe the directions are in the top of the cover of the switch

Changed pressure switch now pump cuts off and on @ every 15 secnds

There are two adjusters, one for max pressure, one for the difference between cut in and cut out. If you have fussed with either of them, look on the old switch for an idea of where they belong. Basically, the one on the big spring is tightened until the pump cuts off at the desired pressure, and the littler one is just tightened up until it is not loose. Further adjustments have to be made in small increments, with the pump allowed to fully cycle up to the desired pressure. Then the pressure has to be released (let some water out) until the pump comes on. Balancing between these two adjusters is not easy. If you have totally messed up, get a new one and don't mess with it. It will be factory set to the settings on the box. If the pump still won't stop running, you have something wrong with the plumbing, like a check valve that has failed. The foot valve is the most likely suspect to fail. If there is no foot valve, there should be a check valve on the suction side of the pump.

Just installed a new switch

How high is the pump getting to? most of the time the facorty setting is 20- 40
So that meansit turns off at 40 and turns on after it get down to 20 PSI

I have also found it that what was going on to start you might want to look for an open hose bibb outside. if not then yo needd to look at the suction line and see if your sucking air inside. Just turn off the motor after its up to 25 psi and look for ANY water that is on the pipe. The smallest leak will not let it turn off.

I hope that this was a help to you, Please be safe

We have a flotec well pump, less than a year old.

To replace the switch, shut off power, remove wires noting all wire locations.
You may have to relieve pressure in the system by using water until the surge tank is empty.
I'm not sure about that.
You do have to either remove the switch from the piping by unscrewing it or remove the piping from the switch by removing the connector and unscrewing the connector from the switch.
Assembly is the reverse. You should use teflon tape of dope on the screw connection below the switch.
The procedure should take about a half hour but you won't have any water during this time.

I have a pressure switch

The wiring could be wrong. Make sure the two pump leads are one on each side of the switch and the same with the black and white power leads. They should also be opposite each other on the switch. If you look at it from left to right, it should be white (neutral), motor lead, motor lead, black power (hot). Make sure that the switch is set right for how much power your putting to it. If your power is 230 volts ac, make sure the switch is set for that much voltage. If it's 115 volts ac, make sure the switch is set for that. Another problem could be the motor. If its having a hard time starting up, that could blow the breaker. Motors use up to 10 times their operating amps when they start up. Let me know if this helps.

I adjusted both large and

The large spring is for the cut in and cut off pressure, the smaller spring is for the differential in pressure, meaning it adjusts the lbs of pressure between cut in and cut off. Since you have adjusted the smaller spring you have a 30 psi differential instead of 20. To adjust turn the small spring counter clockwise 1 full turn or 360 degrees, then recheck the pressure differential (do not adjust the taller spring while doing this) You may have to repeat this two or three times. Once you have a 20 lb differential, then you can adjust the taller spring to get your cut in, cut out pressure. It works the same way. Clockwise for a higher pressure and counter clockwise for lower pressure. It's something you'll have to play with. It doesn't have to be exact, as long as it's close. Sometimes they are hard to get readjusted.

NEED INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

The wiring diagram is on or inside the cover.... However, it is better to see it in a video.
This video is for a Square D switch but the procedure is exactly the same:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggn0hyGI2AU (same as below)

Just remember when it comes to pressure adjustments if needed that the big sprong is for HIGH pressure shut-off and the small spring is LOW pressure pump start adjustment.

2 power wires in for the power supply and 2 wires out for the pump to run.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

My pump cuts on, runs

Is there a non-return valve fitted on the pump system? Some pumps have these fitted into the housing . If there is not one fitted you may want to try that as it sounds like water could be flowing back down your system.
Otherwise it sounds like a switch problem. Take the casing off the switch and check that it's not full of ants. This is fairly common esecially in wet weather.
The switch settings and tank pressure sounds fine.

The nut on the larger spring in the pump pressure switch: Usually the larger nut in the pump pressure control switch adjusts the pump cut-on ("cut-in") AND pump cut-off pressures simultaneously. This is the left-hand spring (and nut) in our photo. That means that whatever the gap is between the cut-on pressure and the cut-off pressure, that gap is maintained, but the entire operating range of the pump is raised or lowered. Turning the large nut clockwise RAISES BOTH the cut-on and cut-off pressures. So turning the large nut clockwise shifts the whole operating pressure range of the pump UP to HIGHER pressures.
Conversely, turning the large nut counter-clockwise will lower the whole pump operating range. This is the simplest adjustment to make.
Photo (left) courtesy of a reader.
The nut atop the smaller spring in the pump pressure switch: this nut is used to narrow or widen the gap between the pump cut-on and pump cut-off pressures. This is the right-hand spring (and nut) in our photo).

Turning the small nut clockwise (tighter) will RAISE the CUT-OFF pressure, and vice versa, loosening or turning the nut counter-clockwise will lower the cut-off pressure. Watch out! If you loosen this nut too much you can set the cut-off pressure below the cut-on pressure and the pump will turn on and run forever (or until it burns up.)
Which nut to turn in the pump pressure switch control, and which direction to turn it, are usually visible on a label inside the pressure switch cover. Above we show photos of a common Square D water pump pressure control switch (Schneider Electric) and the label with pump control adjustment details. [Click to enlarge].
Here are Example Pump Pressure Switch Adjustment Instructions from Square -D Understanding how pump pressure control switches work and which way to turn which of the two nuts in the control can be confusing.
On a Square-D Pumptrol® 9013FSF-2 pump pressure switch, for example, Square D tells us that we
  • Turn the Range Nut #1 (the larger spring and nut) clockwise (to the right or "down") to raise [both] cut-on and cut-off pressures. This is "tightening the nut down" against the spring. ("Rightie-tightie, leftie-loosie" as Mara Gieseke says to her kids). Thanks to reader Rise for this clarification.

In other words, adjusting the pressure on this spring shifts the whole operating range of the switch up or down, but keeps the difference between cut-in and cut-out the same, whatever it happens to be (typically it's about 20 psi from the factory.)

If you want the pump to turn ON (cut-in) sooner
, that is, at a higher water pressure, turn the nut clockwise or "tighter".

If you want the water pump to turn ON (cut-in) later, that is, at a lower water pressure, turn the nut counterclockwise or "looser".

  • Turn the Differential Nut #2 (the smaller spring and nut) clockwise to raise the cut-out pressure.

If you want the water pump to turn OFF (cut out or cut-off) at a higher water pressure, turn this nut clockwise or "tighter".

If you want the water pump to turn OFF (cut out or cut-off) at a lower water pressure, turn this nut counter clockwise or "looser"

Here is why the small nut is called the "Differential"

How to change high &

Hi,
Take the cover off and under there you will find two screws...
The large one will change the cut-in or low side and the small one will change the cut-out or high side...
For either one turning the nut up will make the pressure lower and turning the nut down will make the pressure higher...

Here is a tip that I wrote about making these adjustments...

I have a Flotec model fp5172. Will this pump automatically shut off when it reaches max pressure?I

No, this pump does not natively turn on and shut off based on pressure. You need to add a pressure switch and tank. Flotec has the manual for the FP5172 here: https://www.pumpagents.com/pdf/FlotecPumps/Flotec-FP5172.pdf . I hope this helps. Cindy Wells
