Take a look at the head where the gasket sets and look for small hole. Apply air pressure to hole and valve should pop out. Be carefull because it may shoot out with force. Examine the plastic valve where the oring fits and check for cracked lip. There should be a spring behind the valve in the head and usually a second oring. Parts are available at searsparts.com. Either the compressor or the motor is defective.

Either the unloader valve on the pressure switch is bad or the extension cord is too long or the start capacitor is weak. When the tank is full, unplug and try to turn by hand a few turns. Air should come out the unloader valve drain fitting.
