How do you use the timer on a timex watch model T5G981
The timer is an automatic function that occurs when using the heart monitor. It indicates how long the activity is occurring, and does not work like a normal watch timing function. It receives signals from the heart monitor and tracks how long the signals have been received.

For both the screw and snap backs, make sure the battery is exactly the same as was in the watch. Although they look the same, these batteries vary in thickness. With the battery installed, sight across the watch bottom to ensure the battery (or no other component) rises above the level of the watch case. Once all is level, replace the watch back (making sure the gasket is properly placed.

Timex expedition compass, alarm does not sound since battery replacement.
You will find an arrow head on the outside back of your watch where all the printing is. When you put this lid back on, this arrow needs to be aligned with a notch on the inside edge where the cover goes on. As you are looking at the watch from the back with the cover off this notch is in a northwesterly direction. If you doubt it then just hold the back on without popping it in all the way and hit your mode button to make sure that you hear the beeps again. If you do, then you've found the right spot...
