I have a Viking lily545 sewing machine. Just filled a bobbin but it will not release it. Ideas? Thank you

If you are unable to pull the full bobbin off of the bobbin winder, take the thread of off the bobbin and it should come off easily. If the thread has too much tension during winding or if wound at full speed, it can cause the bobbin to be compressed on the spindle and it won't come off. I recommend throwing away the bobbin just in case it was deformed in the process. Wind at 1/2 to 3/4 speed in the future and make sure that it is threaded properly for bobbin winding.

Which software extensions can be used with a Husqvarna Ruby embroidery sewing machine?

The Husqvarna Designer Ruby can read a number of embroidery file formats: .SHV, .DHV, .HUS, .VIP, .VP3, .PEC, .PCS, .SEW, .JEF, .EXP, .10*, and .DST. One other embroidery file format is accepted. See the manual. It can read the .SH7 stitch format files and .VF3 embroidery font files. It can also read .HTM/ .HTML and .TXT files. With the complimentary 5D software (or a similar package), you can convert most other embroidery files to one that is compatible with the Designer Ruby. The documentation for many Husqvarna Viking sewing machines is available here: http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/Support . The manual and other useful information for the Designer Ruby is here: http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/support/DESIGNER-RUBY . The current link to the manual is http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/SiteMedia/Products/Machines/Support/Designer_Ruby_manual_ENG_A.pdf?ext=.pdf . The file extensions are listed on page 9:2 (page 100 of the PDF). I hope this helps. Cindy Wells (I will admit to mostly using the .HUS files with the Designer Ruby.)

1-get a piece of wax 2-or a bar of soap you rub the wax OR the soap on the stretch fabric that will allow the needle to go thru with no problem 3-get a piece wooly fabric wet it with sewing machine oil and set it some where on top of sewing machine UNDER THE TREAD THAT WILL ALLOW THE TREAD TO GET WET AS YOU DO THE SEWING.

What is a Viking Husqvarna 150 vintage sewing machine worthif it is in really good condition? Also how much is a new home model 641 sewing machine worth if it is in really good working condition?

depends on where you live and who would want to buy. New sewing machines can be bought at Walmart for $99 - $200 with a lot of stitches and extras. :-)

I have a Husqvarna 550. The bottom thread suddenly started clumping and the machine now makes a clunking noise. This happened suddenly. I have rethreaded 3x, nothing visible in the bobbin case.

Make sure you are using the correct bobbin, and that it was threaded properly. Check needle and plate to make sure there are no nicks. Clean all fuzz from the bobbin area. Always thread needle with needle down.

We just bought A Husqvarna second hand. It does a straight stitch but no ZigZag.

Hi, I have several of these machines and they all have the problem you described. It would seem that the lubricant used by Viking has dried out with age and turned to something like varnish. If you can remove the back plastic cover without breaking it, then you can gently heat up the internal mechanism (hair dryer?) and oil, exercise the zig-zag linkage. Be careful of the plastic, it is old and brittle. Sometime just turning a screw loose will break it, making reassembly difficult. These are great old machines but sometimes you have to be satisfied with only a good straight stitch. Bob

Husqvarna 3020 - material does not feed.

Hi, The machine has knobs for stitch length and width. Also, there is a small white button that drops the feed dog for darning. It is located below the knobs and locks in the down position, push it in and up slightly to get it to release and the feed dog will come up.. It is also possible that the stitch length is stuck in the Zero length position, which would require you to remove the back plastic cover to get at the mechanism for oiling. Be careful the old plastic will break easily. Bob
