How do I alter the top tension manually on the husqvarna Viking Sapphire 930 for free motion stitching. I want to create a whip stitch where the bottom thread comes up to the top of the work.
Increasing the top tension (and possibly decreasing the bottom tension) will cause the top thread to pull the bobbin thread up.

Did the needle screw (also called thumb screw) become loose and the needle dropped?
Replace the needle, you may have bent it. Even if it is not visible to the eye.
