well, from what is indicated in the USB manual for your Brother, check that none of the below issues is causing this.
- Ensure that USB media contains data for no more than 200 embroidery patterns since Embroidery patterns cannot be transferred to the machine if the USB media contains data for more than 200 embroidery patterns. If this is the case, reduce the number of designs saved on the USB media.

- if the embroidery designs contain too many colors (this number may vary within the designs themselves), it may not be possible to transfer an embroidery pattern to the machine, even if there are less than 200 embroidery patterns that have been saved on the USB media. In this case also, reduce the number of designs saved on the USB media.
- Save the patterns in the root directory of the USB media. If embroidery data is saved in a folder on USB media, that embroidery data cannot be retrieved by the machine.

You might have a bad bobbin case. check for any burrs on the bobbin case, and replace it if so.

The way the thread passes thru the bobbin tension on this machine makes it real easy but sometimes the thread doesnt go where it is supposed to. Try doing it several times, you can feel the thread get tension when it fits in correctly.
Good Luck

You need to sew the first stitch slowly. Lower the needle by hand and take up carefully. Pull the needle thread up and the bobbin thread should be caught in the formed loop and come with it. Pull them both to the back of the machine and sew.

if there is a dial to make the zig zag wider then you turn it to the extreme side for minimum width and that is all you can do .

I would suggest by the time the quilt rolls up on the frame the machine would have too little space to quilt. Look for machines with throat or harp space of at least 9"

Hi, Elba, your manual is the best place to go for this question. It will get you used to using the manual which is a very valuable accessory. If you don't have it, you should be able to get a free download at brother.com

Timing should not be a concern the moment you lower the needle. Rethread your top machine and rethread your bobbin thread. Be sure the pressure bar handle is raised so that the stitch foot is hovering above the feed dogs when you are threading the machine.
