This model has been recalled by Starbucks and/or Seattle's Best, if that's where you bought it. All you need do is call them and they will send you a new one free of charge.

No matter where you got it, if you call and just tell them its a Barista they will take care of it. I had an issue with mine also.

btw, if you get a replacement and they don't ask you to send your broken one, I sure could use it. Mine has a piece broken (the plastic piece under the blade that holds the blades in place) and I'd love your broken one so I can replace that piece in mine. Or maybe if you know how to take that piece out, you can send them the rest (they don't care what condition its in).
