I've also seen this problem now... In my case re-seating the cartridge helped for a few days, but after that I got continuous flashing status LED. Turns out (after disassembling of the cleaner base) that the cross-shaped arm that checks for cartridge presence activates a micro-switch that is supposed to be open when everything is OK. I seem to have gotten a bit of water in it and therefore now it was recognized as missing all the time. As I have no plan of ever attempting to run the cleaning cycle without cartridge I disconnected the switch and isolated the cable ends - problem solved.
Disassembling of the base wasn't at all complicated when you have removed all the screws. There are three less obvious screws under the rubber feet (just pull the feet straight out), other that that they are all very visible.

If you take the cleaning unit to pieces you will find a tiny microswitch that detects that the cleaning cartridge is in situ. This switch is fed by 2 brown wires. The microswitch is prone to get water on it and then malfunctions. Unless you are adept enough to find a new one and fit it, in my opinion the only way around this problem is to snip one of the brown wires and re-assemble the unit.Effectively this is overriding the units ability to sense that the cleaning cartridge is in position!As long as you remember to NEVER run the unit without the cartridge in situ, the wash and dry cycle should work fine.Best Regards.Ian.

The batteries were not designed to be replaced. Buy a new one.

It isn't really a person friendly replaced battery. You will need to solder wires.

IF the seal is broken and you want to reseal it. I would use a small bead of silicone.
