Why the phone goes off when you connect the charger is because the connection was not straight up, so it will turn off the phone and it will go blank. When it does that, you just have to remove it, turn off the phone and remove the battery and insert it back in, then you fix in the charger before connecting it to the power outlet.

TIP: Always attach the charger into the phone first before you connect it to the power socket or outlet. That way it will never trip off when you attach it to the charger.
