Odds are if it cannot locate the gps path, it means that you are within an area in which a sat cannot link.Other problems such as buildings, and even fast speeds can prevent the GPS from being detected.

Try to take out the battery and reinstall it back in. If that does not solve the problem, then you have to get the sylvania connected to a computer, then you back up your maps and software, then format your sylvania and restore the maps and software back on, you can upgrade if you wish to.
That will do the job for you.

The centering screen is pretty much useless, that failed to incorporate an escape or exit button, the best way to end the screen is to simply hold down the power off button, then release, this should reset the GPS when you turn it back on it will go back to it's usual startup screen.

Buy something other than a Sylvania or Curtis GPS. I have the same issue and the company's customer support is virtually nonexistant. I've tried the link already mentioned and it is worthless. I've tried their customer support 3 times and gotten 3 different answeres, none of which resolved the issue. No response from their corp. office etither.

If you do not have the owner manual Google the model number with "manual" or as a last resort contact the Maker. (Sylvania is Philips who likely did not make the unit but had it made and their name put on it.)
