Could be either motherboard or memory problem. To fix try these procedures:

• unplug the charger
• remove the battery,
• press and hold the power button for 30 seconds
• release the power button
• plug charger and battery and start it

If problem persists, open the memory cover on the back and swap the SODIMM memory sticks, and try. If the same, leave just one memory stick and try again. If not, try the second stick only. If everything fails your BIOS is corrupt, or motherboard has short. Check the power jack. Regards, Mike

Something inside the laptop is quite loose and shorts the power so it immediately shuts down.Check and tighten the screws from the back and also check the power jack possible short, it may need repair or replacement.Regards, Mike

My suggestion is to go thru your computers manufacturer and ask for directions on how to activate the Administrators account. I didnt realize on my computer that I didnt have Administrative rights until I tried to change my permission levels (I am a little bit more advanced than most users and needed the access to different areas in the computer). Having the Administrative rights should help alot.

turn your laptop upside down and you will see a cover on the Right side with screws in it.Remove the screws and you will see the hard drive and usually the battery will be located on the left side.Unplug it,wait for a few seconds,then plug back in and replace the cover again.The password should not be needed anymore.

If I'm not mistaken you just got it or at least are used to use a Mac or Linux machine. There is no terminal window in Windows, but the equivelant are the command prompt. You can right click on the windows icon in the bottom left corner of the screen and chose run. There you can just type cmd and then press run or enter. That will open the command prompt. Be advised that the commands you can use differ from both Linux and Mac computers.

It's solved by downloading 'Autoruns' from Microsoft. Disable the file from running at system startup

I suggest that you take the computer to a repair shop to have this done as most have software that removes that control another way is to reformat the hard drive but that looses all your information , files ,folders and os By now you will see the advantage of top quality security systems as that attackwould have made the screen red with a big sign that it is virus, malware or adware and all you had to do was delete at that screen

Did you upgrade the laptop to a new operating system? Try pressing fn+Z see if that turns the lights back on.

reformat it and reinstall the operating system via the cd slot on start up hold down the alt,ctrl, and delete buttons to get into the bios the select boot from cd once the os is in then close down and open it again and do the 3 button entry to bios again and change the selection to hard drive for boot up you will have to re enter all folders and programs as a wiped or formatted HD is clean to start with

I have the Toshiba Satellite C55-A5300. I'm not sure about before the update, but after the windows 8.1 update my audio was pretty bad and had no bass at all.In Control Panel ---> Hardware and Sound I found "Realtek HD Audio Manager" which has a tab named "DTS"Once I hit the Launch buton I was able to apply settings for headphones and external speakers including bass boost.My audio is now much better.Hope this helps.
