What is PCProtect?
PCProtect is malware.
What is PCProtect exe . I would boot up in Safe Mode again, or Normal if you have to, and bring up Task Manager again (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and check to see if explorer.exe is running. If not, Click on File in the Task Manager toolbar, select New Task (Run), and type explorer.exe in the Open box and click OK. If all goes well, your icons and Start Menu will appear and you can start cleaning up. Otherwise, you could try again and type appwiz.cpl in the Open box to bring up the Programs and Features to remove any bad programs you may find. Malware removal can takes years of experience, so I will leave it at that to try for a starting point.
Can't find my hard drive
Boot the node up and go into the bios settings, its either f1 or more common f2.
Look to see if the hdd is listed. If so try to boot up. If that fails it's time to do a little diagnostics. Get another hdd of the same type and plug it in to see if it boots up. If it does then get a new hard drive.
Just something else to try before putting the 2nd hdd in,
take the cover off the computer and locate the hard drive and unplug the plug back in the ribbon cable and power connection.
Won"t power up. If I hold the power button down an icon on the lower right flashes on but nothing else happens.
Hi,
It is unfortunate that the computer is not turning on. Request you to try following the below steps which might help:
(1)Turn off the computer.
(2)Remove all the external peripherals like AC Adaptor, flash drives, battery, etc.
(3)Press and hold the power button for 30sec which releases the static on the computer (if any)
(4)Put back the battery and plug in the AC Adaptor.
(5)Let the computer charge for some time.
(6)Try turning on the computer. If the computer doesn't turn on then check if the computer gives any series of beeps or if there are any diagnostics LEDs on it.
Thanks and Regards.

I have changed power supply of Aspire T180 to upgrade, no response from my desktop
you may have electrocuted motherboard if you did not stay grounded while putting in power unit. touching MB while not grounded can cause really bad issues. if cpu heatsink fan is not spinning when power on, then that would stop boot up. if graphics card boot files corrupted then no boot either. check to see none of the capacitors on MB are swollen at cross+ top. if they are bulging then they could have blown stopping power from reaching MB. things you need to check.
also, ac adapter may be bad.
Getting drive controller errors on dell optiplex 330 dt
First, check you hard drive as follows:
*Download
Seatools For DOS (free) from my link; in the site screen, click "DOWNLOADS" tab, then "Seatools For DOS". Burn it to a CD. Reboot with it in your drive. In the screen that appears, first check that SMART has (or has not) been tripped. If it has been tripped, your drive is failing. Then click the upper left corner of the screen for the short test and let it run. It will notify you either Pass or Fail. This is from Seagate Corp. but will test all other drives, not just Seagate.
If your drive passes as good, the chances are that your motherboard is failing/failed. Try swapping your cables as you stated, but I don't think that will help. If you have an extra hard drive you can swap it to test, but if it is empty you will need some kind of operating system installation disk to see if you can load an OS on it. If so, then the hard drive is bad.
