There is a firmware update for the Lexmark Interpret S405 printer that addresses print quality issues. Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark S400 Series Firmware Update. If more than one download is listed for your model, choose the first download in the list. If it is the wrong firmware level, an error message will tell you which firmware level is correct.After successfully updating your printer, try to print your document again to verify that the print quality has improved.

Sounds like a poor connection. If it's still under warranty take it back! I got a free replacement printer after the paper feed disintegrated.

Sound like printhead problem... ask from lexmark for replace (call them +1 800-539-6275). If they refuse to give you, than search on amazon for it... here Amazon com LEXMARK 405 printhead. I hope this was helpful. Cheers

did you download software, if so delete the print with all its software, and reinstall. if it ask you if you want the minimum functions. click no. you want all the features, because I haven't had any luck with the quick download, this worked for me, good luck

Hi john No need for disc, don't worry. lexmark interpret s 405 drivers (win 7/8) can be found at driverupdate us . (32/64 bit) It will take 2 mins from you to install... after updating, go to word and try to print something I hope I have helped you... enjoy

Plug it in and your computer should look automatically for a driver, dowlaod the driver then install uit.

1. Turn the printer off.
2. Press and hold theGoandReturnbuttons simultaneously.
3. While holding down these buttons, turn the printer back on.
4. WhenPerforming Self Testis displayed, release the buttons.

If the problem is the printhead. Contact lexmark support.for assistance. If your printhead is from a defective batch, lexmark will replace the printhead.
