Keeps blowing the fuse.

Sounds like its compressor is pulling too many amps trying to start, thereby blowing the fuse. That would indicate that the compressor is most likely locked up. If so, it's time to replace that dehumidifier. Repair by a shop is far too costly, and you're better off using those bucks to buy a new unit.

Lg dehumidiffier will not start bucket is empty light says otherwise

We had a similar situation and the problem was solved when we removed and cleaned the filter which is accessible once the bucket is removed in the front (pull it down and out). Ours was very dirty and it sits between the humidity control dial and what we believe to be a sensor. Once cleaned, the compressor engaged immediately.

The top of the unit has alot of condensation on

A little condensation is not something to worry about. But, a lot can be caused by a dirty or clogged air intake filter. Which can also cause the cooling coils to freeze.

Turn the unit OFF & unplug it, before removing the filter for cleaning.

Also, maintain 12" to 18' of clear air space all around the unit.

If the unit is in an extremely moist or damp environment, 55% is not really a low setting. 35% would be more appropriate for this type of environment.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

It is loud vibrating when

No, not really. As the unit has to be in a level position to operate properly and not overflow.
If the unit is sitting on carpet, this will often times cause the vibration noise. I don't know why, but it does and it does with my 4 year old LG unit. I have noticed, that once the tank reaches the 1/2 full point, it will vibrate sometimes. I solved the problem by firmly smacking the left & right sides of cabinet at the same time, with my open hands. The vibration stops immediately and continues to run until it shuts off because, the humidity extraction level has been reached or the tank is Full & needs to be emptied.

It's a simple solution, but it works. I hope it works for you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Is there a reset button for the power for the

Anbna, there is no reset button for your discontinued model. However, you can try resetting it by doing the following:

Turn the ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit for 15 minutes.
Once the time has elapsed, plug the unit in and turn the unit ON.

Hopefully, during that 15 minute timeout, the electronics reset and reverted back to the original factory settings. And the unit will turn ON when you press the ON/OFF Switch.

It's also a good idea to check the outlet it's plugged into. It very well could be an issue with the outlet (no power) or the circuit breaker for that outlet has tripped.

If you continue to have a problem getting it started, contact LG Customer Support 1-800-243-0000.

I hope this helped you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem.

Coils freeze up

Rick. the freezing of the coils can be caused by several things:

1. Air intake filter needs to removed and cleaned.
2. The coils may be dirty. Clean the coils with warm water, wiped dry and a light coating
of WD40 applied to the coils.
3. Restricted air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" around the entire dehumidifier while
in operation.
4. The air temperature at floor level is 40 degrees F or lower, than the ambient air temperature
at shoulder level. This is particular true in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor
on to a sturdy table, cabinet top, etc, that's strong enough to hold the unit, plus a full bucket of
water generally resolves the situation.

Worse case scenario is that the defrost sensor has failed or there is a small leak in the cooling coils.

I hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Basement smells musty, fan won't

Barbara, are you running the unit in a continuous mode (i.e Using a hose to drain the unit)? Or is the water draining into the water collection bucket?

If you are not using a hose for continual drainage, the fan will not run constantly. It requires that, for continual operation.

Also, you may have the humidity extraction level set to high. Lower it to 35%. Also, remove and check the air intake filter, as it may need cleaning.

Dehumidifiers that are not Low Temp models have a difficult time operating in basement applications. Because the air temp at floor level is colder than at shoulder level. At temperatures between 40 & 60 degree F, regular dehumidifiers struggle to keep up. Raising it up off the flow on to a sturdy table, counter top, etc that can handle the weight of the unit, plus a full bucket of water can really help.

I hope this was of assistance and thanks for choosing FixYa.

LG DEHUMIDIFIER LHD459ELY9 LIGHT FOR "BUCKET

This usually caused by one of two things. The bucket is not installed properly or the float valve in the bucket is stuck in the UP position. The float valve is not in all models.

Turn the unit OFF & Unplug it. Remove the bucket, look in the top of the bucket on the left side closest to you. If you see a float valve you have that model. If the float is in the UP position, jiggle it so that it will return to the down position. Then reinstall the bucket. Plug the cord back in and turn the unit ON.

If you don't have a float valve, make sure, when you reinstall the bucket, that it fits "squarely" into the holder from top to bottom. When installed properly, the bottom of the bucket should not tilt down at all. The top, back side of the bucket must make firm contact with the bucket removal safety switch.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem.

My dehumidifier has no power.

First, Trista, have you checked the outlet it's plugged into. to make sure the outlet still has power to it?
As there is no reset button on that model. The outlet it's plugged into may be damaged internally or their may be a loose connection in the wiring. Try using another outlet, that's on a different circuit in your home. Once you do, be sure that you turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON, before trying to set the humidity extraction level. Once you do, set the level at 32% (that's the arrow down button).

I know you said ,"the bucket is inn correctly", but just to humor me, remove the bucket and reinsert it into it's holder, making ssure that the bucket fits "squarely" into the holder from top to bottom. The bottom of the bucket should not tilt downward, once it is installed.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

"My LG LHD459EL keeps registering "bucket full"-

Hi,

I am sorry to hear regarding the problem. This is a common problem and unfortunately, there is no small fix for the same. This indicates that the sensor assembly is bad and would need to be replaced. Be advised that the "sensor" is the part that measures if there is water in the bucket or not. It's refered to commonly as a bucket switch but the sensor is the same part you'll need to order and replace.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
