invest in a multi meter if you want to test or diy electronics and as to repair or replace that would be up to what is wrong

Best to start at the beginning. You have it connected properly? Are you using the line level, direct or speaker inputs? What output on your receiver are you using? Have you adjusted the volume control? If you have everything correct, are you the original owner? It's an older model so if you are the original owner what happened when it stopped working? Noises, fade out, just wouldn't turn on one day. Are you capable of doing some minor electrical work? Can you read a schematic? Can you recognise electrical parts? If the answer to any of these last three questions is no, you need to take it to someone that has the ability to do electrical repairs. If the answer to all three is yes you can fix this yourself.

For a powered subwoofer:Connect to the receiver Sub line out • Use a shielded cable and not wire

No speaker spontaneously makes popping noises unless it is driven so hard the mechanical parts are crashing into each other. The amp is probably stressing out due to heat, which would explain the delayed onset of the symptom and its disappearance after a cooldown.

Perhaps you are overdriving it??

What they do NOT explicitly tell you is that the amp in the sub is not for your other speakers running off it's Speaker Level outputs. They're just there as a pass-through if you use Speaker Level from your own amp.

Line Level (RCA) IN to the sub will NOT pass anything out those Speaker level outputs.

I had the same problem. When I opened it up, the fuse was blown, and it was a pain to find the fuse it needs (3 Amp, 250 V slow-blow fuse, 5x20 mm). Also, the 2 large electrolytics (big purple things near the amp) and one small capacitor were all blown. For 4 fuses, bought seperately from, and the 2 electrolytics and 1 capacitor, it cost about $20, plus almost 20 more in shipping, which still isnt bad considering the original price of the sub. However, the tricky part is that you have to know how to use a soldering iron to take out the old components and put in the new ones.

Unlikely, but open it up and take a look. Some help here.

The loud humming is the sound of AC mains - clearly your amplifier is receiving an input from somewhere and possibly into the front end. The hum could be induced by radiated energy from nearby unshielded equipment, it could be the result of an accidental hum-loop or could be because the amplifier power supply has a fault. It is usual practice with amplifier construction to ensure unused inputs are shorted to ground by switching or by additional contacts and wiring at the input sockets. High gain high impedance inputs can cause a great deal of unwanted noise if they are not shorted. I suggest you read the instruction manual and perhaps Google a few hints and tips about amplifiers and stuff.

Replace with exactly the same thing--don't go up in amperage. BUT... if it blew a fuse something is wrong. Those amps do have a tendency to over-heat but if the new fuse blows you should have the amp serviced. Or junk it.

Could be many things. The control panel on these have been notoriously problematic (check the forums). Mine sat for a couple of years because it would power on. It just took longer and longer and then nothing. But I couldn't part with it; the way it made the house feel when it worked. But there doesn't seem to be any repair shops around anymore.
