Radio Shack Pro-95 Handheld Scanner Questions & Answers
My radio shack pro 95 used to pick up EVERYTHING
There may be issues with the unit or the source of the signal. The scanner may have lost its sensitivity. There are a lot of articles on the unit about programming etc. The problem is that it takes special equipment to test the front end of the receiver. The company the made the scanner for Radio Shack was GRE in Japan. They moved to China and then closed, they have reopened and are now owned by Whistler.

Need a yellow battery holder for my Pro95 scanner
First suggestion: never recharge batteries inside of a $400 scanner. Always charge them in a separate battery charger. Second, you can find those battery holders on e Bay and you could even try QRZ.com as a source. Okay?
Pro 96 locked out
Press and hold the Lock key for 3 seconds, then the 'key' should not show up in the display. Also, when you press 'scan' try pressing some of the number keys to turn-off and to switch on scanning banks. Okay?
Getting scanner to scan
Make sure that the keypad isn't locked. See if there is a little key in the display. If yes, then hold down the lock key to unlock the keypad. Next, hit 'scan' and you will have to select a group to scan, so press the #1 or #2 button IF you have frequencies loaded into it. Can you press the WX button to hear the weather? Let me know. Good luck.
Pro-95 will not scan, when first turned on, unit
If you did the hold down '2' '9' reset, there isn't much more you can do. I have tried pulling out the battery pack and putting in a jumper wire between both battery contacts inside the radio (with no battery) and turn it on and let it sit for 1/2 hour. That's about the last thing to try. Only other goofy thing could be you got 'sticky pop' on the 'manual' button, so the radio thinks you pushed the manual button as soon as you turn it on. Make sure that the rubber isn't stuck around the manual button. You could try a QTip with 70% alcohol around the edge of the MANUAL button, but you also might wipe off some lettering at the same time, so use caution. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
I want to erase everything and start over
Should be a reset button like a very small hole that you can press with a cocktail stick or similar, or remove the battery may work, but most sets have a backup battery. If both these methods dont work then you will have to consult instructions that will probebly have a method of reset by pressing two buttons together.
No air band is there a mod to get it on a 60 XLT
I do not know that particular model, but I suspect it lacks an AM receiver. Aircraft radios operate on Amplitude Modulation; most other VHF radios use FM .. so its more involved than just the frequency/tuning... it actually needs and entirely different demodulator section. Though AM demod circuitry is relatively simple, it may not be included for cost or space reasons.
