Analog Quasar tv keeps turning off.
The bang test is a good indication that there are poor solder connections inside the set. If you can solder and are comfortable working inside the set where potentially dangerous high voltages exist even when unplugged, you can fix this yourself. Look at the main board and resolder any joints that appear grainy or have rings. That should resolve the problem. If not, see if there are any changes in the symptoms and update this.

SHORTED OUTPUT MAGNAVOX TV
Hello valexandrur,
You are in the correct section, now your problem may be a shorted Integrated High Voltage Transformer (IHVT) also called a
Fly-back Transformer and or a shorted Horizontal Output Transistor (HOT). I would first check the Transistor to see if it is shorted between the emitter and collector (to do this use a multimeter set to "Rx1") and the reading between the emitter and collector should be near infinite no reading, if the reading is 000 ohms then the transistor is shorted and should be replaced. Now for the hard part, you technically can not check for shorted transformer turns in the IHVT using a multimeter, you will have to use a device which will allow you to do what is called a ring test. If you do not have this piece of equipment (IHVT tester), I would replace the IHVT just as a matter of good measure, since the HOT had drawn a lot of current I would assume that the IHVT was damaged to since it is in the serial path between the collector of the transistor and the VCC supply.
I hope this helps,
Thank you,

JVC TV won't turn off
It may be that the switch is worn out and needs to be replaced. Or your TV may have "Windex syndrome." This happens when people clean the screen by spraying on Windex and wiping it off like cleaning a window, and some of it runs down and gets on the circuit board front edge where the switches are. It can cause corrosion which leads to intermittent operation, strange behavior, or total failure of buttons. Best cure is to remove the board, inspect it, clean any corroded connections, replace the switches, and check the values of some of the small parts in that area. They can all be affected.
Can you help me find a pwer cord for my 32''flat screen (Proton)
Unless this set is really oddball, it probably has the same type power cord connector used on computers and so many other electronic appliances. If this is the case, you can use a standard computer power cord as a replacement. The computer cord is a three-wire plug with a ground pin and the TV probably only had a two-prong plug, but the cord will still fit. Your electric outlet should be the three-prong type (if it's not, get it replaced!) so the plug will fit.
If the connector in the set is really different, you can check online by doing a Google search for replacement parts for you TV.
