FLASH PROBLEMS
Only possibility is weak or wrong type of battery.
Inspect device carefully and note the specific type of battery and replace accordingly.
These devices need a very high energy to charge the capacitor to flash that high voltage light.
Constant use of batteries weaken them.
Wrong type or dollar store batteries just don't cut it and some cameras will not run on anything but a particular type to achieve that energy and once again, these batteries will weaken with time. There is a special device for regenerating lead batteries but not certain this is the case with newer batteries of different compositions and charging patterns.
Further, battery chargers are specific to their respective batteries and should not be interchanged otherwise explosions, leakage and or batteries can be ruined.
Other than the batteries, a bad charger, wrong charger, the capacitor inside the flash unit or its electronic circuitry is bad. This would be an intricate and difficult task to repair unless you had the patience and little hands of the Chinese or Japanese manufacturers that assembles these, with hopes your not offended by my Archie Bunker style sense of humor lmfao.
Good luck, hope this helps.
Canon IXUS 105 will not connect to my computer
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as
Picasa.
