You can't tune a dvd remote to work on a tv. If you connect a scart lead to tv and dvd, when you watch a dvd, ie play the disc, the dvd should show automatically on the tv. Once it is playing you can adjust sound, picture etc. Good Luck

Find channels
You say you`ve plugged the outside aerial lead directly into the DVD recorder aerial input socket, you connected an aerial link lead from the aerial output socket on the DVD recorder and you`ve got a Scart lead from the TV output socket on the rear of the DVD recorder into the AV1 socket on the TV. I`m saying all this because in the past, I`ve had customers say this to me only to find when I call round that they`ve plugged the aerial into phono sockets instead of the earial input socket. The aerial lead will fit physically but not electrically. Have you got a good picture on your TV with the DVD recorder switched to standby?? If yes, Does it play a DVD perfectly through the TV?? If yes, then everything is connected up correctly, When you press the virgin menu button to your DVD, it should show setup/install?? When you do get to the free-view or channel setup/install menu, and you tell it to search for new channels, does it scan?? Does a bar or do the numbers rise and the % number rise as it finds new channels?? If they do and everything is connected and working as I described earlier but still no channels are found, Try unplugging from the mains and reboot your DVD recorder, then repeat the whole menu install procedure sequence again. Other than that, there`s nothing else you can do, Basically, you`ve got a faulty machine where it requires an engineers eye I`m afraid. Ian

Hello there, that error indicates a loss of tuner signal. If you are certain you have your cable line plugged in correctly and securely then try unplugging the system and letting it sit for 90 seconds at least, then go ahead and plug it back in.
If the error still persists then the tuner is either malfunctioning or your signal is having problems. Either way you will want to check with your TV provider.
Oh yes, make sure your signal is digital, I'm pretty sure this box does not work at all with an analog signal (such as an antenna).
Thanks

Check that the scart lead from it to the TV is pushed in fully both at the DVDR and at the TV.
If that makes no difference, unplug it for ten minutes, then switch on and try again.
After some research online, and if the above doesn't help, it seems this very model does have this as a known fault. In the worst case it may have to be returned or replaced.
The following is an example of some other people also experiencing the same issues:

Connecting up a home cinema kit
Heya,
The good news is that the monitor and the Home cinema can be connected but you need to get a cable. Bad news is the cable did not come with it.
The monitor has D-SUB, DVI-D
so you need a HDMI to DVI-D connector then you need another cable to route the audio to the system which you should have.

Wharfedale DVD- 265 saying invalid disc
Check and see if there is dust or dirt or something on the lens. Dirt, grease and fingerprints will cause a DVD player to have read errors.
If it a new player, or under warranty, get it replaced. It sounds like it is failing.
Hope that helped.
We have a wharfedale dvdr24hdmi
The wharfedale dvdr24 is an upscaling dvd player and not a hd dvd player which is why it wont recognise the disc you are trying to play.
HDMI just means that it connects to your tv via an hdmi cable, so unfortunatley you'll need to buy a hd dvd player to play your disc.
I have a wharfedale DVDR24HD160F.
hi there
its an outside chance but if you hold down the power button and the play button together when you plug the player in it usually resets the software. if it doesn't work, what the hell it was a freeby !

Need region code for wharfidale
Try this
* Open the drawer
Press 0, 1, 2, 3, Play in sequence on the remote control
Play a region 1, 2 ,3 ,4 or any other region to see if the hack has worked!
The disc drawer can obscure the Infra-Red sensor when open, so ensure that you compensate for this when entereing the hack.
You can also return the player to Region 2 only mode using the following sequence:
* Open the drawer
* Press ZOOM
* Press RETURN
* Press POWER

I'm only finding information on E-Bay and Google that indicates there is a 2 channel audio output but nothing listed for video output. What kind of connectors does the DVD player have on it? Are they mini jacks or RCA?

Dear Team. I was getting vision but no sound or sound but no vision a right dogs dinner of a mess. What I decided to do was to run the recorder by applying the facory defaults. This reconfigured the freeview side and also it corrected the fault because on setting things up afterwards the recorder did what it was supposed to do. Hope this is a help and thank you for your interest. Dave.
