this will be the first to fail make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure dust free connections and are not faulty even the electical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error make sure the CPU has a secure dust free seating with thermal paste make sure your ram modules are securely seated with no dust in the sockets also the Cmos battery has charge with no dust in the socket on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in make sure the lead/s that attach to your hard drive are securely seated if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x right click to reinstall drivers or if you can see your usb but its not working ports(com&lpt)right click update driver hope this helps

sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable

just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again,

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems

if this fails to fix the problem type in run "regedit" then press ok then you can see registry editor then locate below key. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11 CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} And remove upper filter and lower filter. Then restart computer then check. Also locate the below key and make sure it's value is 3 not 4. HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\usbstor make sure start value is 3 not 4

if still no luck you might have to install a usb 2 or 3 card they are cheap and easy to install you can buy these on Ebay very cheap hope this helps

It does not contain a recognized file system

this is usually caused because the system did not originally format the drive. It seems to be a common problem with external drives that are moved from computer to computer.I had a similar problem with one of my sons external hard drives, yet I was able to copy four or 5 GB of data to it, with no problems.I have an external hard drive myself and so far I have not had this problem, as I use it on both my workstation laptop. This might be something worthwhile to research.Hope this helpsregards

if the drive works on your main computer e.g. workstation. Check the properties in computer management to see what type of format the drive is in. I had a similar problem with my sons external drive and I just ignored the warning, but it still worked.I hope this helpsregards

Dropped my super droppable protected 160 drive, now

bro.. this could be because it got disconnected from the circuit inside it...
just open up the casing and you will find a laptop hard disk with a circuit attached to it ..
just try to make the connection firm again by removing the circuit and putting it back again...
InshaAllah it will work fine again...
best of luck...

I can't access my hard

An external storage-device has four major components:

* the USB cable

* the power-adapter

* the disk-drive inside the enclosure

* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

One of these components has failed.

Try a different USB cable.

Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting to a USB port on a different computer.

Take a "multi-meter" and measure both the voltage and amperage output from the AC adapter, and compare with the specifications on the label on the adapter.

Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and then connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if it works at all.

Purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Get the part-number and serial-number from the label on your disk-drive, and access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status", to see if they will replace the device, at minimal cost to you.

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge" guarantee.

Cant open. it asks whether to format. important

Files on a flash drive can be corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon and then click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flash drive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive you need to format the flash drive, but you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive these WEB sites may help: -

Here is an article with some ideas on how to solve issues with an external hard disk.

If it does not work, one last option is to take the hard disk out of the case and connect it directly to the SATA or IDE interface in your computer.

Dropped my Transcend Storejet25p 5oo gb on floor !

Your hard drive is damaged beyond repair. When a hard disk makes a clicking sound and the computer does not detect it then the hard disk is faulty. This is commonly known as "The click of death". There is no way of fixing this hard drive, if you need to recover your data, then there are companies that can recover data off faulty hard drives BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

How to fix slow reading, copying, and formating Transcend StoreJet 1b

You could try running a disk degfragmentation utility. That isnt going to do much though. If the transfer rates really bother you and if your system supprots a USB 3.0 or thunderbolt interface, I'd recommend getting a new drive.

WHAT DRIVER'S DO I NEED TO DOWNLOAD FOR EXTERNAL HDD, STOREJET 35 ULTRA (TS1TSJ35U-EU)FOR WINDOWS 10

If this is supposed to be an empty drive, Click Start, right-click Computer, click Manage, click Disk Management. If the drive is shown here without a drive letter (I'm not talking about "System Reserved", don't mess with it!!!), you probably just need to right-click it and "Format".
