I have an external hard

Firstly, recover your data on the external hard drive with third party data recovery software. Then you can format it to check out whether it can be fixed.
For data recovery program,I have a professional one on my computer that can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data due to drive crash, system sabotage, virus attack etc.You can download it and scan your hard drive for free to preview whether your data can be recovered. http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoveryprofessional.htm

ASKS ME TO FORMAT

File-system corruption or failing hardware. If you have important data take it to a professional right away, don't mess around with it any more. Check disk in another computer may fix the problem but it may also decrease the chances that a pro can retrieve any of your data.

My Transcend StoreJet 500GB harddisk

If you are using the USB "Y" cable that has two male ends on one side then ditch it and try a regular usb cable. Regular being a cable that is USB to USB mini, one that as short as possible e.g. 36 inches or less. This solution is what solved my problem, so simple :) If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/chris_51d7c1b240c21e38

External hard disk delay

Your drive has most likely developed bad sectors, if your data is precious do not run software recovery programs over it since this can stress the drive and cause it to fail completely, take it to a data recovery company. If you do wish to try it yourself use an imaging tool like dd_rescue for linux, also remove the drive from the USB enclosure and connect the drive directly to the machine.

Clicking noise and takes long to read

If the data is important I would highly recommend sending it to a specalised data recovery company, they have special hardware/software designed specifically to deal with failing hard drives. Digital Recovery (www.digitalrecovery.co.nz) are well priced and have all the gear to deal with this. If you data is not particularly important you could try removing it from the external case and imaging it in a Linux machine using dd_rescue. Download Ubuntu and install dd_rescue (sudo apt-get install dd_rescue) and have another blank drive installed then image the disk like this "dd_rescue /dev/sda dev/sdd, where sda is the faulty drive and sdd is the blank one, do not get these mixed up or you will overwrite your data.

My Transcend StoreJet 500GB cannot

Several things could be happening here:
1. your electronic controller in the hard case has failed.
2. you didn't properly disconnect the external hard drive in Windows > with the
"Safely Remove Hard ware and eject Media" in the task bar.
3. if you have a power supply to the USB drive it may have a damaged power connector or not supply proper power to the device.

Its become mega slow. i plugged it in and it was

If it's working but slow, it sounds like it's running at the USB 1.0 data rate.
Is the cable plugged directly into the USB port on your computer, and not into a USB hub.
Or it might be the cable. Have you changed the cable?

Both cable and hub, if you really need a hub, need to rated for USB 2.0

If the drive can be seen by device manager but not under My Computer, right click my computer and go to "Manage". If foreign, it will give you an option to import and is not initialized, it will allow you to initialize it. This will hand over drive management to the OS and you should be able to see it in My Computer.Have you ever worried about hard drive data recovery? Here is the solution:You can recover data from hard drive with data recovery software like Tenorshare Data Recovery. It can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data.
