If the GPS reminded you to get the maps updated, I would recommend taking it to Best Buy. You are supposed to be given free map updates within 1 year of the date of purchase I believe. And updating the maps on Insignia devices is a very convoluted process that involves downloading software off of specific internal best buy websites.

I would at a guess think that a memory card reader device may need to used on your P.C and that a download into the sd memory card would be how insignia would achieve an update. But backup what is on the memory card first onto your hard drive in your P.C. before altering its contents if this is how it is achieved.

when i tern on show pictuer insert sd card.i have sd card i inserted nothing happen?

Unfortunately, Insignia cannot provide a download or replacement for lost GPS software as Insignia is only a licensee for it, not the owner.

the problem with most of those things is the wire coming from the lighter,it gets wiggled around alot and the plug jack on the GPS even gets screwed up . Wiggle it around and see if you can get it to power up ,but I would bet the farm on that jack or cord

my insgnia will not turn on with charge or reset . what do I do to get it working

The updates [if any...] for your INSIGNIA device should be find HERE.
Just enter the manufacturer's website and input your model and you will might find some updates. But as far as I can see HERE the INSIGNIA team is just working NOW for some updates.
Anyway I'd suggest you to join the COMMUNITY FORUM to be informed about any changes.

You should try putting the SD card into a PC Card Reader and see if there is any data on the card. That normally happens when there is a bad connection or the card is blank.

You need to inquire at Best Buy. You cannot upgrade your gps by connecting to your computer. That feature is not available and must be profesionally serviced.

If you are finding that you lose GPS signal in open areas the receiver chip may be dead, if your unit has an external antenna port you could try that it would bypass the broken receiver and allow you to use the unit.
