Portable dvd player dropped now has sound and faint picture
I usually prefer to fix things but here unless this is a very expensive unit let it go, it did enough damage to cause image issues and a screen hinge broken, if it can be repaired it will always be prone to some collateral issues that may show up later, like a small car in a accident, no matter how good the repair place is it will never be quite the same.
Hi, my chargers cable
Probably. Look on the charger for the output voltage and current rating. Unless the charge uses a proprietary connector, you can use any charger with the same voltage and a current at least as much as the original. The connector on the chargers must match. The three important dimensions are the outside diameter of the metal barrel, the inside diameter, and the length. If the barrel is too short, it may not properly activate the battery charge switch in the jack. If it is too long, it sticks out and is more likely to break something if it gets hit while plugged in.
Radio Shack has some of the more common models. Many electronic parts houses carry them also (Digi-Key, Jameco, MCM Electronics and Mouser provide good service over the Internet).
If you know the cable is still good near the transformer end, you can get a replacement cable and do a splice with solder and heat shrink tubing or crimp-type **** splices. Don't mess with "twist and tape" bare wire splicing - it's not reliable. If you go this route, you must make sure you connect the wires correctly; otherwise it will not work and may damage the player. Usually the inside of the barrel is connected to the + output of the transformer and the outside is then the - terminal. This is often marked on the transformer together with the voltage and current rating (look for a dot inside a "C" with lines going to "+" and "-"). If the output is AC, then there is no difference.
My screen has gone white and we always kapt the
Hi, i dont know why radio shack would ask you to call us as we are just a help web site that offers help to people who have problems with the equipment, we dont fix them and we cant sell you parts all we can do is tell you what your problem is and what you need to do to get the problem solved.
so i can tell you your problem and what is wrong with it and how it needs fixing but dont sell the parts so this is something you would need to do.
Now your problem is that the thin ribbon that connects the screen to the circuit board is damaged, what happens is that when you open and close the screen this ribbon moves so it keeps the connection but inside this ribbon their is several thin copper wires and over time these become brittle and break and this is whats happened to your player.
this problem is very common and even more so with mobile phones that flip or slide, so what you need to do to get this working again is to get this thin ribbon replaced, its not an expensive part to replace and wont take long to replace but your going to have to take it into your nearest computer shop to have them replace this part for you.
they can get the part for you and should be able to fix it same day for a fee.
im sorry their is no easy fix for your problem but without getting this data ribbon replaced it will never work, the ribbon itself will cost next to nothing to buy and wont cost much to get it fitted so if you want to get it fixed then go to your nearest computer repair shop, look in your phone book for this and give them a call and tell them you need to get the ribbon replaced from the screen to the circuit board and ask them how much it will cost.
i hope that has been a little help to you, you could try calling radio shack back and tell them you have spoken with me and i have told you that the problem is with the data ribbon from the screen to the circuit board tell them i have told you that this needs replacing and then that will solve your problem and just see what they say.
other than that take it to your nearest computer repair shop and ask them to repair it for you.
good luck let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
Where do I find a battery replacement for my Accurian 8" rechargable dvd player AP 3913
If memory serves, that was a house brand for radio shack in the mid 2000s. As such they sourced product from many different places as they were struggling to avoid bankruptcy. I seriously doubt you can find a battery. You could try a specialist battery store (batteries and bulbs, battery source, etc.) However I'm pretty sure you will find that the cost of the battery, if available, will be greater than a replacement unit. Portable dvd's run from around $35USD
