Keypad or the Touchpad? Are you saying your keys don't work or is it that the mouse pointer is frozen and not working?If it's the touchpad and mouse pointer:I think you have the Touch Pad disabled. You can toggle the touch pad between enable and disable by a couple of ways depending on the manufacturer. On some at the very top of the touchpad there might be a button in the middle that you can press that toggles the touchpad. On others it might be a sequence of key strokes. For example you might have to Press and Hold the ALT or FN key then hit the corresponding key at the top of the keyboard that toggles it. Most times the correct key to hit will have the icon of a finger pointing at a square area that represents the touchpad.If it's the Keyboard:Maybe your keyboard has been hijacked by a virus or infection. Maybe you spilled a liquid on the keyboard. Maybe the keyboard cable needs to be reseated ( taken out and put back in).Have you tried your keyboard in Safe Mode? Boot into Safe Mode and see if the Keyboard works, if so you know you have a virus or infection.Go to www.google.com and in the search box type:"download.cnet.com" (without the quotes). Click the link to goto the site and look on the left side when the site opens up and you will see agray area that says FIND SOFTWARE. In the white search box under FindSoftware type: "Virtual Keyboard" (without the quotes) and click themirror to search. When the search results come back look for FREE VIRTUALKEYBOARD. Download and Install it. It's totally FREE. Alsouncheck anything that pops up other than the license agreement during thedownload and installation. You only want the Free Keyboard and not theother junk. You can use it to solve your keyboard problem. Just open up whatever it is youwant to type on such as the web address in an browser, a word document, etc.,then open the Free Virtual Keyboard and it will sit on top of whatever you weredoing. You can move it around so that it is not in your way also.

Did you download the drivers via model or serial number. Generally the webcams drivers that come with Gateway are in three. Be sure you unistall the one that doesn't work before installing the other, restarting your computer each time. Also check the dates of the drives compared to the time you purchase the machine, some driver may be old or updated. Lastly, which i am sure you've done, make sure you have chosen the correct Operating System if you are not downloading the file from the web cammed computer.

If your space bar isn't responding when you press it, or if it responds sluggishly, it's possible that you have inadvertently enabled the "Sticky Keys" or "Filter Keys" accessibility option in Windows.

If everything else is lighting up and is working, hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if picture okay! the inverter board just below the screen is more likely the problem, or it is the built in backlight behind the display, "less likely" but, if both show the same symptom it is the video graphics card that is part of the motherboard.
