There is no such thing as a 'default code'. Safes are made and sent out with a set code which is written down. You are encouraged to change that code to one of your own. That is the best way. Changing the combination is done from inside the door panel. This is a dial safe, so not quite so easy. Sentry will tell you the original code. Having said that, most people who can't open a combination safe are doing it wrong. It isn't like they show it in the films, one way to number, other way to number, back again to a number and it opens. You can ask Sentry Safe, but they charge and you need a signed affidavit that the safe is yours, and the serial number, BUT your husband has changed it.
