Normally when the screen is blank and the power indicator is blinking, it means the TV is in the shutdown mode to protect itself. Try unplugging it for several minutes. This will give the system time to cool down and also reset itself. While it is unplugged make sure there is nothing blocking the vents and clear them of dust and debris. Use a non-abrasive cloth. (You can dampen the cloth with water, but do not use any chemical cleaners.) You can also use a can of compressed air made for electronics to help clear the vents.  If this doesn't clear up the problem, then what you read about the SU and/or SD board is most likely the issue. The number of times the power indicator light blinks in a sequence identifies for the technician what parts to test. I have included the chart for you. Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. The display is on a circuit board and that board has a capacitor on it. That capacitor is the one that needs changing.

Both the main and power board could cause the issue you're facing, only way to know what one is measure the power supply voltages, if they're ok after it's been on awhile it's most likely the main board. One other thing I'd do is run firmware or software updates as this could cause the issue
