My ps3 slim blue ray drive will not accept discs.
OK, all the answers I see here don't look like they was reading your problem and what you did. You most likely should take it back apart and put the disc back in it that way. Since you took the disc out the PS3 thinks there isn't and is a disc inside. When you press the eject button it's not going to reset the disc arms inside because there isn't a disc in there and that white thing is there to keep a disc from going in with a disc inside even though there isn't one. You should go ahead and order another laser and when you take it back apart change the laser also slim PS3 are more common on the laser going bad I've changed alot of them. But when you change that make sure you either put a disc back in or move the arms and slides to where it's ready to accept a disc when it's put back together.

Disassembling a PS3 hard drive
This is a futile effort. A hard drive has platters in it that spin at high speed. Those platters spin so fast that the air movement keeps the heads floating mere micrometers from the surface. A dust particle cannot fit between the head and the platter. So when a hard drive is repaired or manufactured, it is done in a clean room to keep all foreign objects like dust, hair moisture out. If you did not take extreme precautions, then trying to repair it wont work even if you do get it to spin again.

Ps3 serial number check
The serial number really doesn't have anything to do with the HDD size. Only because they are so easily changed. It would be worth, getting one with a smaller Hdd, and then upgrade it to a 1TB HDD for the cost of around $75.00. There are only a couple of variations to the ones to look out for. The old "fat" systems, the 40GB size, was also called the"reverse GEN" system. The new "super slim" released in the U.S. has 2 variations. A 250GB and a 12GB.

My ps3 freezes while playing certain games..i.e.
try updating firmware or doing hard reset.
this is a last resort Sony support recommends.
Be sure to backup your settings/games saves by doing a System > Backup on your PS3 or you may lose your game saves! Also, this is a last resort procedure prior to exchanging/returning to sony.
1. Power Off the PS3 via the power switch in back and power back on w/switch.
2. Hold Power Button on the Front until you hear 3 beeps.
3. Then go through the initial setup and then run a full Format via System > Format. (will take approx 3 1/1 hours). You may need to have our AV cables ready if your using HDMI (in case HDMI isn’t detected after initial reset).
4. Restore your backup you made prior to doing factory/hard reset (optional, if you created a backup).
Hopefully this will solve your freezing problems.
Problems/symptons that this appears to have resolved:
-freezing when doing anything
-no harddrive activity
-freezing when trying to use onboard keyboard or bringing up keyboard
-game/movie disc freezes system

How to activate youtube
Sign up for both Youtube and gmail accounts.
Once you have made a gmail account, stay signed in and use another tab to open a Youtube account. They will have you link them together.
They are both owned by same company, so they can delete any account. They will not allow you to you another email other than gmail, so they can control. They can cancel both your gmail and youtube account at same time.

I recently bought black ops it was working perfect
ive had the same problem and nothing iv done has corrected the problem. if you are desperate for a game what i do is join a friend who is in a game and it works fine. i thinbk it has something to do with internet connection because when i take my ps3 to my friends house and connect to his internet it works fine.

My Daughter put a coin
Remove the plug of the PS3 and remove the coverr to get the coin out or else it can do a lot of damage to the set.
So before it is used or powered on get to wriggle it out, might be lodged into some circuit parts,

the problem you have is not the above the problem you have is with the dodgy update sent out thousands of people all over the world are having the same problem if you go to sony playstation web site you will find out more and sony are working on the fix now and will be sorting out another update to fix this problem with the ps3 update,.

When trying too get online from ps3 by wireless
You are either using a false security key or the security settings are not supported. If it is a WAP key, you are most likely using the right key, it is just that the settings are not compatible with your PS3 system. If you are using WEP settings, check to make sure the security key is correct.
