I have the same problem

There is a TINY HOLE on the side of the player and you can use a small offfice PIN to push inside so that the player will reset.
The player has hung up in the memory and so this will release the processor to start back.
If not there are errors or faulty files within the memory and if the player is connected to a PC and detected then it can be scanned and the system cleaned out.

I have the same problem, did you solve it? When I connect my go gear to the pc I can use it and seems to be fully charged, but when I disconnect the USB the device turns off. I tried to press the reset button but it has no effect. Any suggest? Thanks

Firstly, I'd suggest that you do a soft reset of your player. You will find the reset button next to the 'power on' button on the side of the player. Please hold the Reset button using a pen tip or other sharp object for 10 seconds.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest that you format and repair the player. Contents may be removed by using this function. So make sure to back up your contents.

Format:
On your computer desktop, double-click "My computer". Double-click on the MP3 player's icon. Right-click on the Internal Storage icon and then select "Format".

Repair:
Launch Songbird and then connect your player to your computer. Select "Repair" under the "Tools" menu. Follow the instructions given by the pop-up windows to perform the repair process.

The player should work correctly after this.

Use the synchronization software that came with the device, Philips Songbird. i can't use my devise in a way that all files are unreadble, the pc can't recognise it and it seems all programmes on it are down, please help.

I see that you mp3 will not work now after adding Audio from a different site.
It is possible that the format of your mp3 was compromised or shall I say corrupted, that only way is to format the mp3 again and start a fresh audio list all file on your mp3 could be corrupt now.
Reformat your mp3 and try adding audio using only application or program, mp3 players have specific formatting when adding audio and form other site it may be different and could damage the file system.
Waiting for 4 day will really not work that will just let the unit stay rested and not do any fix, Reformat the Unit add Add Audio an try it again, just an advise use only one program/application when adding audio on your mp3 to prevent file corruption.
