change the batteries and leave the camera in the on position when doing it ..It may open ..and be able to retract after ..

Here some instructions for similar cases..

If they were on a memory card and you haven'd done anything to the card since formatting it, you may be able to recover at least some of the pictures. Do a Google search for "data recovery software" and select a program for your computer and operating system. Put the card into a card reader attached to your computer and run the program.

Maybe circuit contact resistance problem? Cheaper to buy another newer digital camera.
