Try another monitor, reseat ALL monitor cables .If you have a Graphics Card, shut down computer, unplug and reseat Graphics Card.

What is it doing when you get to the windows screen? What do you mean you can't get past windows screen? Is it asking for a password?

Unfortunately, I would either have to be in the chat mode or on the telephone with you to fully analyze your problem and provide a coherent answer. But don't despair because there is a little FREE program that may solve your problem.

It happens periodically that our computer shuts down, restarts, hibernates or some other weird thing when we really don't want it to. I'm going to pass on to you a FREE and hard to believe program from Microsoft! I have no idea why this little program hasn't been advertised but then I don't own their stock.

you fix it by installing the video driver? if you do so, then try to check if your computer is in a deep freeze or you happen to install deep freeze and activate it. try to deactivate it first so your changes will be save.

You might be able to get a recovery CD from the manufacturer instead of where you bought the computer. For E-Machines you can go to https://secure.tx.acer.com/RCDB/Main.aspx?brand=eMachines and enter the serial number of your unit to get information on ordering recovery media. The recovery cd will have a factory image of the hard drive on it eliminating the need for an actual Vista CD.

could be corrupt system files or your hard drive about to die I would recommend save all your important files as fast as possible try using www.dropbox.com 2gb free online storage.

What triggered the problem? do you know? did you recently change anything? install any new programs? etc.
Do you get any error messages? Do you see the windows loading screen and then it just reboots again?

Try this first: HIt F8 when it is trying to boot, and if you get to select boot using Last Known Good settings. See if that helps. If not we can try something more advanced.

Can you boot into safe mode? Press F8 before the Windows logo shows up and you'll be prompted to choose.

Try alt f11 or f9 or alt f9, if this fails google your machines model and brand and accessing the recovery partition, you should easily find it.
