To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down the [VCR/DVR] button, press the [ON/ STANDBY] button (see page 93). How to set up

From the receiver's remote control, press on the 'Source' or 'Input' button. On the list of A/V sources that comes up, you should see one entry for Apple TV and one for PS3, if you plug them in different ports.

My ts-sr507 Has blown,due to

You're in Canada...GOOD NEWS!
All in one electronics can fix anything Onkyo as they are the warranty repair location for Onkyo and a plethora of other big name brand electronics.
So in warranty or out, then can fix it.
send an email to Rob Tracy ([email protected]) and he can give you instructions on how to send it etc.
They are in Toronto, so shipping by UPS or FED-EX shouldn't be too bad.
I doubt he can give an over the phone estimate, but I can guarantee you that nobody will fix it faster or for less money because they probably have any and all parts in stock.

Turn the unit on screen displays PROTECT then

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as another possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Hi I have just connected my onkyo tx-sr 507

The 'monitor' video output would go to a corresponding composite video input on the TV/monitor. It would be selected as a source, not a channel. I'm sure the unidentified video device's manual explains it. Any RCA cable would suffice.

All plugged in but no pictures to tv

Bypass the video / audio of the DVD to the TV and see if the input works on the TV. If so the connection of the home theater must be checked once again.
Connect the video and audio correctly and switch to the same function connected in the rear panel. If there is no video or audio or one of them then the digital logic switching circuit can be faulty. Since most of the selection is done through LOGIC GATES this IC could have failed.
You will need to use a logic tester to trace and confirm if the rest of the amp works fine.
Also try changing the input ports.

I have a onkyo tx-sr507

A simple composite video connection from its Monitor Out to the appropriately-selected input on your TV may resolve that.

Or, from the manual...

"While the Pure Audio listening mode is selected, the video circuitry is turned off and only the HDMI OUT outputs video signals."

No USB.

Anything that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input (except PHONO).

Get a cable like the one described here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?
