My computer is not showing

Check the connectors on the drive after you have opened the case. If all of the cables are connected correctly and the drive is good then you should goto the contro9l panel and see if there are any driver problems. If a yellow exclamation point shows next to the DVD drive then you must install the correct drivers. To download the correct drivers Google the model number and goto the manufacturers site under support and download the correct driver and then install it. Reboot your system after installing driver and windows should automatically find it and complete the installation. Read a CD Do not read a DVD

Hi sachin,

Optical SATA drives don't come with drivers, they use the ones built into Windows. So What I would try first would be to uninstall the driver in the Device Manager, and reboot. Windows will reinstall the drivers on reboot.

To get to the Device Manager
click on Start
right click on My Computer
click on Properties
click on either the tab or link for Device Manager
look for your DVD
click on the +
double click on the DVD
uninstall
reboot

Hope this helps, let me know how you made out in a comment, if you need more help, feel free to ask in the comment.

When i put some dvd

Is your DVD-writer not recognizing any disk? If it so, the most probable case is that your DVD-writer's Optical Lens has been corrupted. Go for another new DVD-writer or try repairing your DVD-writer.

My dvd rw is not

1) Computer off, and unplugged from power.

2) Computer on a table open the computer case

3) Observe Anti-Static Precautions.

4) Unplug the power cable (15-pin), and the data cable (7-pin) to the DVD-R/W drive.

5) Press the Power On button in, and hold it in for a count of Five seconds.
Let go of the Power On button.
Do this procedure TWO more times.

6) Plug the power cable, and data cable back into the DVD-R/W drive.

7) Close the computer case, and plug the computer back into power.
WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.
After Windows loads you should see a pop-up, "Found new hardware", and perhaps another one, "Found XXXX DVD-R/W optical drive"

Number 5 above clears the CMOS Error Codes out, and resets BIOS settings back to the factory default settings.
Unplugging the optical drive, (DVD-R/W drive) ,and performing number 5, kind of slaps BIOS around, and makes it recognize the drive is attached, and also Windows.
Makes Windows match of one of it's thousands of generic drivers for the DVD-R/W drive.

I am having new LG

Does the tray open/close when you press the button?
If so, it is getting power from your computer's power-supply.

When you open "My Computer", is there an icon for the CD/DVD drive? If not, then check that the "data" cable is securely connected to both the motherboard and to the device.

If you still have problems, you could have purchased a defective drive. Take it back to where you bought it, and exercise the WARRANTY to get a functioning replacement.

My drive is not showing

Simple test - try to boot from it. If you can't, or the unit isn't even recognized as present in the BIOS then it's dead - replace it.
If you can boot from it then the easiest way to fix the cause of this - a corrupted Windows registry - is to perform a Repair install.

How to instoll new hardware dvd rom

Turn your computer off.
Disconnect the power-cord.
Remove both the side-panels.
Disconnect the "data" and "power" cables from the back of the drive.
Remove the mounting-screws on both sides of the old drive.
Slide-out (to the front) the old drive.
Slide-in the new drive, aligning the holes in the sides of the drive with the holes in the sides of the case.
Re-insert the screws. Don't overtighten!
Reconnect the "data" and "power" cords -- they are different, so only fit only where they should fit.
Replace the side-panels.
Connect the AC power.
Turn the computer on.

MY LG SUPER MULTI GH22NS50

Windows 2000 & XP & Vista & 7 all contain the necessary device-driver software for CD/DVD units.

Open "My Computer" -- the device should be listed.

Open "Device Manager" -- the device should be listed.

If not, does the tray open/close when you press the button on the face-plate? If not, there is no electrical power reaching the device.
Check the SATA "power" connector.
Try using a different power-connector from the power-supply to the device.

My GH22NS50 drive detect DVD's

If it's under warranty I would recommend you to return it, it should work without additional drivers. If possible try with a different SATA cable and/ connect it to a different SATA port on the motherboard.
