Pick up a second hand monitor, test your system to see if a signal comes through i.e. you have image on screen. before you do a recovery, perform a back up and restore, to a previous date & time. You may just have a bad monitor.

A blinking power button generally means the computer is in sleep, hibernation type mode. If pressing keys or moving mouse does not wake the computer, PRESS AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON IN FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS. This will force the computer to shut off. Then press the button again and the computer should start up and go through the "restarting windows" routine. If your computer continually will not wake up from sleep, disable these modes in the Power settings of control panel.
