We have 2 laptops going through this router and

First you need to verify that what kind of Internet connection you have from the satellite and what you need to do on the router so that it can communicate with the modem like MAC address cloning or changing the LAN IP Address. On the basis of that we will need to reconfigure the router back as it might happen due to a power outage or small network glitch the router might have lost the settings stored on it.

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
If your network is secured then make sure that you are typing the correct network key.
also make sure that the DHCP server is enabled on the router.
is there any computer connected to the router ?
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.

How to lock d-link wireless so that no one can use

Hello you have different level of security on it.
If it is open and without any security surely others will pirate and hack your Network system.
You can log onto the default IP is http://192.168.0.1
Specify user name and password for your router, the default is `admin' (optional) and password is blank (nothing). or at times it is ' admin '
There are 2 common mode of security that can be enable
1st is :WEP Encryption
2nd is : WPA-PSK Encryption
The wpa-psk is most stable and secure network
You can also use 128 bit encryption password
Hope this might help you

I have D Link DIR-300 Router. It was working fine

If a router was working flawlessly but suddenly stops working in the way you describe the most common issue are either connections that have become faulty [check wiring, swap out cables to see if any have gone bad] or settings/firmware have become corrupted.

If the latter bypass the router and go to the D-Link support site: http://www.dlink.com/support/

download the latest firmware for your router and follow the instructions provided for flashing the ROM to correct any corrupted code.

Remember to use the administrative functions through the browser access [usually accessed by typing this address: 192.168.0.1 into the browser for D-Link routers] to save all your settings to a file so you can replace them after flashing the routers ROM, for doing so will have reset those settings back to factory defaults.

Hope that helps.

My dir 300 is working fine but it disconnects from

If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it work?
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.
It is very easy.

After you click 'SAVE', the router will restart itself.
While it is restarting, it briefly disables its Ethernet ports,
and your computer will report "not connected".

Wait 60 seconds, while the router finishes its restart,
and those Ethernet ports will be re-enabled,
and the pop-up balloon on your computer will close itself.

Hi I cant configure my router D-link DIR-300

Hi! I will be more than glad to assist u in this concern..Please dont use the setup cd or setup wizard. you can access the setup page of the router by typing at the url:192.168.0.1 then it will ask for the user name and password, by default the username is admin and the password, leave it blank.. here are the things u need to check before u setup u router.. .. if you are using a cable modem from ur cable company provider- u need to do a mac clone on the router u have to clone the mac address of ur computer. normaly the mac of ur computer is the one register to your cable company and on the setup page of the router just selct on the internet setup, dhcp after clonning the mac address of your computer. u need to connect ur computer directly to the router and then after doing the process connect the router to the modem. if u are using a username and password, u have to use the pppoe settings on the router, if ur isp set a static ip , set it up to the router, to check the ip setting of your isp.. connect the computer directly to the modem and check if u have internet.. then click on start, run and type cmd,it will give u a dos prompt and from there type ipconfig/all and it will show u the ip address, subnetmask, default gateway, dns server.. I hope this will solve ur concern..
