There has been many saying someone can easily hack in others wireless password, if, so, is there a way to prevent them form doing so?

Reset your wireless router to use 'WPA' or 'WPA2' security. That will prevent "sniffing" of your wireless traffic.

Login in using your browser and go to the wireless settings and set-up a wireless password/key. Remember the key because each device will now need it to connect. You can also turn OFF Broadcast SSID and your network name will not be shown on anyone's device. You must remember the network name when using this method.

Connection problems

From what you have told us, it appears that the routers motherboard or chipsets have taken some damage due to the power outages, I'm assuming most of the damage would of occurred during the restore of power to the device, unfortunately you have also done all the obvious and clear paths to troubleshooting the problem without actually inspecting the devices main board. The inevitable purchase of a new router looks likely and i would suggest purchasing a surge protector along with the router to protect the new asset from suffering the same fate. If this is going to be too expensive for you at once, i would also recommend unplugging the device completely from it's power outlet during the next power outage and then you can plug the device back in once power is restored to your premise.

Sometimes routers can die periodically. You can perform a 'reset' on the router to put it back to factory settings, but you will lose everything you have configured. To reset, press(and hold) the reset button on the back of the router (its small). Continue to hold it for 30 secondsUnplug the power (while still holding the reset button).Wait 30 seconds, then plug it in again.(Don't let go of the reset button just yet)Wait 30 seconds after plugging it in, then let go. Go make a coffee or do something for 5 minutes while the router does its thing. If all goes well you'll be back at square one.
