How do you set up

Your iPAd should see your wireless network like other devices do. Does your iPad not prompt you to connect to your home network? If it does you should enter your wireless pass key manually on your iPad.

My wireless light on my router doesn't light

Easiest solution first: Unplug the router for 1 minute and plug it back in. See if it works.

Second solution: Log into the router via the built in ethernet switch and see if the wireless capability got switched off by itself (Rare, but it happens). Switch the wireless capability back on.

(BTW, is that the only light that does not light up?)

Do you have to connect the router to the computer

You have to be connected via either Wired or Wireless connection to use a router. You can use wireless exclusively, wired connection is not required, but often handy for troubleshooting connectivity issues. If you are using DSL or Cable modem, the modem is connected to the uplink port of the Router, then you either connect wired via port 1, 2, 3 or 4 (they are all the same) or a wireless connection (Default settings are unsecure wireless for most routers)

Cant access router web page

Hi,
Improve the Fixya.com experience for everyone by voting!
When you say, "Can't access router web page", I'm assuming that you cannot get on line. If that is not the case, the following will not be of any use to you and you need read no further,
However, if you are having difficulty getting online, the solution I'm suggesting works in my business (LAN installations) about 95% of the time. I trust that it will work for you.
Let's see if I can help you.
Begin by turning on your computer and your router
?? Make sure your service provider has activated your account and services on the subscribed line. Please check with your service provider to confirm this. ?? Make sure that you are using the latest drivers. You can download the latest driver from Driver Downloads Database. or from Belkin directly at; Belkin Downloads ?? Make sure that you have entered the right username and password (case-sensitive) as given by your service provider. For example, in Australia: user@bigpond; in NZ: [email protected]. ?? Open Internet Explorer; ?? Click on 'Tools'; ?? Click on 'Internet Options'; ?? Click on 'Connections'; ?? Click on 'Setup' ?? Click on 'I want to set up my Internet connections manually . . .'; ?? Click on 'Next'; ?? Click on 'I connect through a local area network (LAN); ?? Clock on 'Next' ?? Click on 'Next' [This is not an error]; ?? Click on 'No'; ?? Click on 'Next'; ?? Click on 'To connect to the Internet immediately . . .; and, ?? Click on 'Finish'.
That should have you online. However, if it doesn't get you connected, do the following: Click on tools again. Click on 'Diagnose Connection Problems' and follow the instructions.
The last choice is to use the Setup Wizard. It seldom works for me but you might have more luck than poor me. Here are the instructions:
The Connect to the Internet wizard will guide you through the steps of setting up an Internet connection.
Open the Connect to the Internet wizard by:
Clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button • Click on Control Panel. • In the search box, type network, • Click "Network and Sharing Center" • Click Set up a new connection or network • Then double-click "Connect to the Internet".

All the best

How do I get my

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to make the Wireless Network secure you need to access the router settings page.

To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.2.1, the Default password is blank.

Click on Security under Wireless you can change the Security Mode to WEP, WPA, or WPA2 and after that you can personalize your or Pre-shared Key, Security Key or Network Key (Passphrase). Security Key or Passphrase serves as the password on the network that makes the network secure.

Belkin reset:

1. Locate the reset hole on the router. The button will be on the back or side of the router.Leave the router powered on.

  1. Use a paperclip (or similar) to press and hold in the reset button for 10 seconds.
  1. Remove the paperclip.

4. Wait approximately one minute for the router to restart.

The settings for the router have now been reset back to their default.

Then:

Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

I need to lock my router from others using my wifi

    • 1 Disconnect the power cord from your high-speed modem. Locate the Ethernet port on the back of your modem. If an Ethernet cable is already plugged in, trace the cable to the second device and unplug the cable from it; otherwise, plug one end of an Ethernet cable to the open Ethernet port on your modem.
    • 2 Plug the unused end of the Ethernet cable to the port on the back of the router labeled "modem." Plug a second Ethernet cable into one of the open ports located above the "modem" port; connect this cable to the Ethernet port on your computer.
    • 3 Reconnect the power cord to your modem; wait for the lights on the front panel to turn green before proceeding. Plug one end of the router's power cord into the corresponding port on the back of the device; plug the remaining end into any available electrical outlet.
    • 4 Turn on your computer and log into your operating system as normal. Insert the installation CD into the computer; the installation application should load automatically (if it doesn't, you can find the application by manually browsing the CD's contents).
    • 5 Follow the onscreen instructions; after you have made the initial configurations, click on the option labeled "Security Assistant" on the left side of the installer window. Select the desired security type for your wireless network and click on the button labeled "Next."
    • 6 Choose a network key and enter it into the appropriate field; press "Next" and follow the onscreen instructions.
    • 7 Open your computer's wireless network settings and enter the wireless network name, security type and network key into the appropriate fields. Save your changes. Set-up is now complete.
Tips & Warnings
  • You can access additional settings via the modem's manual configuration interface. Open your web browser and navigate to 192.168.2.1; when prompted for a password, leave the field blank, and click on the button labeled "Submit."For optimal signal strength, choose a location for your router that will be near your computer, with as few walls and other obstacles as possible.

I need instructions to set the router up. I have

In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.
If you need more help post back! Thumbs and testimonial are welcome!
