time to replace the hard drive and reinstall windows

Two long beeps is the universal code for memory issue. I would contact Dell and have them tell me what the number of beeps signifies (after you count them) and then you can attack the area. At least the bios is working when you get those codes - a relief because if you lose the cmos you are in deep doo doo. Could be a bad peripheral, connection, etc.

You won't be able to replace the on-board video without a fair bit of firmware hackery that is probably beyond 99% of the people on here including myself. Besides why would you want to cause yourself pain? Intel integrated graphics are by far the worse integrated graphics you can possibly have in a computer. Many many geeks will confirm this. Invest in a "gamer" laptop with dedicated graphics or a PC desktop if you are looking to do any graphic intensive applications. Integrated graphics don't even compare to even the wimpiest discrete graphics cards.

im very sure.. its a video problem.. try to replace the graphic card of your unit..

You can install a graphics card in the expansion slot. You may need to disable the on-board graphics in the BIOS setting first.

I wouldn't recommend trying to repair it yourself. I would recommend checking ebay, craiglist or kijiji for another one, usually fixing motherboards is more expensive than actually just buying a new one. -this issue will happen if you are having overheating problem in the computer, there are 3 possible problem Processor, video card or the chip set for the motherboard it self, try cleaning your air vent or filters, may be the fan inside is not working any more..

Take out the Cmos battery if you don't know where the clear cmos jumper is located at. Take it out for a few min and reinsert it. The cmos battery is about a nickel size silver located somewhere on your motherboard.This should clear the bios and load default value to it. Once powering on your computer, a screen will prompt you off cmos error, loading default value, and you should be good to go.

did u check the charger itself...its important ...

if you have multimeter then unplug the charger from laptop and plug the mains from socket to th charger plug and check the output DC voltage..is it coming, if coming then is it constant or varing ...if varing then u have to check the charger inside by an expert...
if its ok then remove the battery of the laptop and plug the main to charger and charger to laptop and then check its performance by switching on laptop...if its work then battery issue....

Hi, Just review all connection,test for voltage if there is 5 volts in LCD section. Clean all contact terminals with pencil eraser and make tight all screw so it will firmly contacted. Feel free to ask whatever the result.

make sure hdd is set "master". make sure ide cable is connected correctly to hdd and mb. may have to change jumper setting on hdd either to "master" or "cable select". in bios, make sure ide control is set to "both".

Mechanical you need to take the drive out and disassemble the casing. I seen one that the CD actully broke into millions of pieces. I was not there to experience the happening but was there to help save the drive.

I think, your laptop Ram or Bios have problem. Better u try to re_setup the windows.

I have the same problem and Dell have quoted $400 plus $200 to fit a new motherboard.

The best available solution is not an happy one, but the cheapest. E-bay will usually have your part for a fraction of the price ($100 or less for the entire mobo), but then you need to take the computer apart and do the replacement work. Easy....... but terrifying!!

Dell Vostro provides only drivers for windows XP and Windows Vista. What you can do is install the Windows Vista Drivers for your Windows 7 and hope it works.
